Hi Earlybayers

Wonder if anyone can help. My friend is wanting to convert there 1969 westy sink/icebox into a electric fridge and gas hob in place of the sink. We want to retain all the original features of the unit so that it looks standard when looking at it. Does anyone do this conversion or has anyone any links of how to do this. Seem to think there was a slammed white westy pop top a few years ago in volksworld but can't put my hands on it.

Cheers for your help

Hi,

I did this just under a couple of years ago, I fished out the details from my build thread.

I am runing a Waeco CR50 compressor fridge, with 2 burner domino glass topped hob with 3kw wok burner, custom made Vorhringer ply worktop with hob inset to replace the stock westy sink unit, also a BBQ point round the rear of the sink unit. The fridge is hidden behind the stock door, and all running off a digital split charge system and a 80W roof mounted solar panel set up.

I also think Dirty Harry may be using a Smev 927 sink/hob combo in his westy, have a looksee anyway. (Or Mychatype3?) Think another 2 folk are running the Waeco in the same place as me also?

Hope this helps.

Alistair
