How to reg my beetle

Hi I brought a beetle around 2 years ago it never came with a reg document v5.
I got a v62 to fill in but i thought i would phone dvla first i gave them the reg number they said it was not on the system and that it probably been of the road some time and its not on the system. They said I need proof that the reg belongs to that car a photo or something and a letter from a club to verify the age of the beetle. HELP

Post up the chassis number and we can tell you the year

The chassis number puts it about september 1967 the reg number is xpp356f but the reg number is not on the system at dvla and they want proof it was on the car :roll:

Do what they ask, photo's of the bug with the reg, photos of the chassis number, and written confirmation of year from a club.

A birth certificate from VW would help too
