The story so far: Just bought a 72 camper which has a 1700 engine (code CA) which runs like a bear when cold (although always starts firts time). To bottom the problem I've decided to start with the electrics. I am going to change; plugs, leads, coil, rota-arm, cap and replace points with a Pertronix ignighter 1 unit. The questions are:
1) Is it worth while getting a 'better, coil (ive hered that the Pertronix coils can shake themselve to death?
2) if i do get a different coil do the plug gaps need increasing?
3) the dizy on at the moment has NO vac advance, is it worth changing it for one that does. (at the moment it runs standard carbs although thinking about changing)
4) what should I set the timing to?
Any other tips/advice regarding ignition would be greatfully received.
Ta muchley!
