This camper truly has to be seen to be believed , its absolutely stunning & more akin to a 1 year old camper , as apposed to a 42 year old classic. This is testament to the love & care that the , (only) 3 owners, have showed it. The first bought it new & choose "Pastel white over Sumatra Green", which looks period perfect, complimented by its golden yellow fabric upholstery in the rear & its matching curtains. It was first registered in March 1973, featuring such benefits as 1600 twin port engine, disc brakes & of course right hand drive, which are getting harder & harder to find, especially in this kind of condition.
The Westfalia Continental conversion gives you a full width roll 'n' roll bed, for the adults, together with a solid double bunk in the roof, as apposed to canvas bunks in the earlier models, up in the roof for the children. You have travel seating for 5 & when camping you can utilise the side facing seat & even the original Westy stool's still present, so plenty of seats at meal times . In this model , you'll notice the unit just inside the sliding door, this has two lift up shelves to help when cooking outside & reveal the sink, under this is the cupboard with cutlery drawer & cool box below this. Whilst camping the 2 burner hob folds down across the walkthrough, with your gas bottle stored safely underneath & behind this a full length wardrobe & mirror, they really knew how to make the most of every space available !
There's lots more storage space & even a concealed roof rack at the back of the roof. You can access this through the new roof canvas, as you can see in the pictures the rear section simply unzips .
When the camper was just 5 years old the second owner, purchased it & kept it for the next 35 years ! He was a helicopter engineer & meticulously looked after & service it. It was always kept in his double garage, next to his later acquired T25 Autosleeper, which we also have for sale. Upon reaching his late 70's he accepted that he decided the time had come to part with his treasures, so he first sold the Westy to the third owner, 2 years ago, who as a professional vehicle bodyshop owner who decided simply to refresh the paintwork, that had flattened over the years , so it now looks simply beautiful.
This is a superb chance to enjoy a perfect classic VW camper & a far better option than to buy a Brazilian new bay window, after all they start at £38,000 from Danbury in Bristol & as with any new vehicle will depreciate as soon as you drive it off the forecourt. Where as with this a true German built classic it will continue to hold its value & appreciate as time goes on & cheaper too at £27,000.
