indicator stalk - help

the indicator stalk on my 1971 literally just fell out as I was driving along
I can push it back in and operate the indicators, high/dipped beam, but it won't stay in
As I was on way to Megabug, I sought their advice and the guy there said put some araldite on, but not too much, stick it back in and hope it takes without gluing up the whole mechanism
Anybody got any advice before I do this?

er fit another one.....
i have one from my 70 im willing to sell. Its not original chrome like the originals but was a new replacement about 5 years ago - seem to rememebr it was fairly expensive.

Looks exactly the same as early bay just not chrome - ie thin stalk with narrow bulb shape on the end. Ill take a photo later in the week if your interested. works perfectly.

I see Heritage do a complete unit replacement at £100!
Not sure how the stalk is held in place - can't just be a push fit, can it?

Can any body help with the wiring on a 1970 Cali import indicator arm?

I cant find where the brown wire attaches to on the switch. I think the other end attaches to an earth terminal on the ignition barrel but would like confirmation of this too.

The wires I have are brown (as above), black/yellow, black/white, black/green, black/purple, black/red, black/white with green twist and brown/white.

I would also be interested if anyone had one for sale

I checked last night and I do have one - complete unit plus wiring from my 70 bay
In good condition - has a really positive click into position in both directions (no slack). As mentioned above its was a new replacement on my van a few years ago replaced due to change of steering column.

It is the same shape as an early bay one but its black not chrome stalk. i tried to take a pic but my phone playing up...will try again tonight/over weekend
