I was disucussing ths merits of the inline fuel filter the other day and someone I know recommended against them...apparently they are responsible for a lot of engine fires. I have them on all my vdubs...

Points of view?

Depends where you put it I guess, mine is a couple of inches from the fuel tank, so there is no join in fuel lines in the engine bay, if it does leak then hopefully it will miss any hot bits.

I guess thats the thing. Most of the time the fuel pipe is cut in the engine bay and the fuel filter sits between the coil and the red hot engine below....probably not the best place.

Get a good quality one also not the 99p ones you see at shows!!

Good quality ones will usually have metal parts within and be clear plastic if this helps.

I keep mine out of the engine bay and well secured.

I keep mine above the gearbox. Never had any problems :)

Just putting it in the engine bay is daft IMHO.
