i want to get an agreed valuation on my bus, my insurance company have asked for 6 pics (front, back, each side, interior and engine)
question is do they value it or do i have to have a price in mind here are the pics

what sort of price should i be looking for ?

on another note
if someone fancies photoshopping some empi 5 spokes on that would be nice as im thinking of lowering it 1 spline rear and adjusters up front and would like to see what i would look like before i decide

In exactly the same place as you are.
Give em a price and they then send on the pix to the underighters who say yes or no to your valuation.

Got refused as the underighters didnt like the idea of my Van being in a locked, alarmed building (Hooked up to the local copshop) and prefered it parked outside my house every night on the (shit) housing estate on which i live

Send it in with a price, if they dont like what they see they will ring you, if theyre happy, they wont.

Rich

P.S Im now insured with another insurance co that are happy to keep my van at work.

Its a tough one.

I think i under estimated mine before.
Little story for ya.

Last year i fell in love with a 1983 Porsche 911SC. (This is all true)
Ponderd for a bit  .
Then on her turned up a gent looking for a Sunroof deluxe.
Spoke to him and arranged for him to pop up and take a look.
 THEN  told my missus that i was selling my van for --K and buying a Porsche(possibly should have sead something earlier  ).
It didnt end well :msn4:
Anyways, i still have the Bus
And i know what i wouldnt sell it for.

And ^^this^^ helped me figure whats its worth to ME (the missus).

Hope this helps

Rich

Or ask the missus

what would you value it at ?

if i had to guess id probally go over the top or under value it

I had a bus insured as an agreed valuation before restoration, when I went to up the agreed valuation after the resto they wanted an extra £80 or so added to the premium ( robin gits!) they never told me this on taking the insurance out so be carefull.

The best way to Value your bus is to look at it the same way as the Insurer & thats how much it costs to replace not how much it owes you, you'll never get that back I know from experience. :(
You'll just have to look at the for sell adds & see what similar buses go for as a guide. :)

Prices on vans for sale atm seem to have lost a bit of value.
Id insure for a little more than that.

I've noticed that, is that a sign for the expected meltdown or just a reflection of seasonal adjustment in otherwords time of year/supply & demand, lets hope it picks up in May when mines due.
Yeah you got to insure for a little more. ;)

There is also a few services that will tell you how much the vehicle is worth. Hoosier is correct about it being the replacement value. With that fact I would use the retail (price at the dealer) as a good indicator on what it would most likely cost to replace.

If you have a Local vw bus restorer or garage near you they can give a written value to help you get a fair cost?? Can't be the garage that has done the resto work on it though..!? :?

been in touch with the insurance company (heritage) and they said i need to get my bus valued by an independent valuer , so does anyone know who or where , i live in swadlincote near Burton on Trent so anyone around this area would be good

:?:

also saving up to get it to look like this

got the wheels just need the rubber then a trip to t2d
:D

Hi

You need to email Clem, he will do your valuation for you. You then send the the agreed valu action letter and the 6 pictures to the insurer. They should then give you an agreed valuation.

Pm Clem and he will let you know what information he needs to do this for you.

Alternativly most local car clubs have a person within the club that can inspect your ride and write your agreed valuation letter for you.

Hope this helps

what about if you have a rat look bus , is it the same, as the bus could still be worth a fortune although not looking nice and shiny ,

That's when I definitely get an independent valuation from a specialist - they will know the value rather than a generic person looking at pictures and agreeing/disagreeing purely based on cosmetics

I was lucky with mine - sent through the pictures and a valuation that I considered the cost to replace a white, rust free, restored US Westy import with a rebuilt 1641 - came to £14K in my mind based on various buses on here, and samba e.t.c. and that's what I put through and got excepted for
