I've been looking for insurance for my bay for the last few days, it was looking about £1200 fully comp with any company who is underwritten by HIC. No other company appears to insure under 21's on campers; tried Lancaster, Carole Nash, Footman James, 2gether and cherished etc. I have also tried some of the usuals, Hastings, Direct line and Admiral.

Only Flux's, JK and VWHeritage would give me a quote.

I have rung up flux's this evening due to an answer phone message saying they could get me a cheaper quote.
Now they have told me I can't be insured at all! What the hell has happened, I bought the bus 10 months ago based on that I could get insured on it with flux's. Now I have a lump of steel sat on the drive that I can't use?

Anyone got any ideas for me? Appears I can't get insured as a secondary driver with flux's as I'm under 25.

Edit - I'm 19 yrs old.

:(

Have you got a local broker you could go to? They tend to have more options/companies to deal with than the usual suspects they can be slightly more money some times but more helpful in these circumstances, I had a cooper s works when I was 20 and no one would touch me, no one, but went there and they sorted me took them a couple of days to find me a policy but all sorted

Are you trying to get insurance in your name or as a named driver on someone else's policy. I'm with Adrian Flux (I'm 23) and it's £1000 but my renewal is due soon and I've been quoted £700 by the rest.

In my name, flux won't put me on the same policy as my dad as I'm under 25.

It is looking like there's very few ways for me to go. I can't see what has happened in 2 days that means i can't have a quote.

Is your bay LHD?

Got a quote now again with Adrian Flux, £960 ish fully comp. With 5000 miles. I also got another quote from them at nearly £1800 fully comp, it appears they have put me down for unlimited mileage when I asked for 7000-7500 miles; they must have put me down for 7000 miles on Monday and 8000(or unlimited) on every quote after that resulting in no quotes.

That's not too bad. And yes mine is LHD import.
