Hi - I'm in the process of renovating / cleaning up my 1972 Devon.

The vehicle hasn't got any interior lights fittted (previous owner has fitted new headlining so not sure whats behind it in terms of wiring!). My question is if anyone can point me in the direction of 'period' looking light units.... I'm not a stickler for it to be a 'concourse' reproduction by any means, although would prefer it to have a period feel.

I guess I would need two light - one towards the 'cab' area and one in the living area (above the tabnle?) - any suggestions of where to put the light - or where to purchase the fittings from would be very much appreciated.

I had a quick look on ebay and it seems that you can still buy "Labcraft" lights in an identical style to those available in the 70s / 80s - A few links for you:

theres a good chance that there will be wires above the headlining in the centre directly above the walk through if you feel the roof suppor tfrom above the front sealbelt direct centre there will be a rectangular recess the original courtesy lights clip into this you just need to cut the headlining abit. theres also another one above the rear seat on the combi derived vans. but i you can get at the front ones chances are all the wires are up there.
devon also fitted an tube light like the one in the link this was usually just above and in the centre of the two side windows opposite the sliding door

on my devon i put some kitchen/bathroom 12v downlighters recessed into the overhead locker. and fitted some led bulbs in them so they draw hardly any power.

best to run the rear lights from a leisure battery

Thank-you both 'Fortunate Son' and 'Bigdaz' for your advise.

I like the way the links for the Labcraft lights got cheaper and cheaper.... obviously it was the third link that I've purchased!!

Will have a feel around the headlining once I've managed to thaw out the locks to get in the van.... assuming there is a recess there; any advise on where to purchase a 'clip in' light.... I've seen them on the 'machine7' website but they only seem to have ones for '76~'92, and i'm assuming by the fact they are titled by the year that they wont fit a '71?

Also - yes was planning on all lighting running through a 'leisure battery' which I've put in though still yet to wire up.
