Who can supply and fit a new interior Rock and Roll bed, top box etc without me actually having to sell a vital organ to fund it?

Fed up with getting 4k plus quotes back from companies who start off with the promise of a new interior for a couple of grand. Yes you pay for what you get, but surely there must be an honest fella with a garage who will carry out this kind of work for a decent and fair price all round?

If anyone has had any luck with this then please let me know who, pics would be even better! :)

Cheers all

Hi!

4K? Strewth! You could buy another bus for that! How about getting a 2nd hand westy wardrobe and bed etc and chucking that in? Ebay, or ask on here for one? You could get one quite cheap if the veneer is manky, and redo it yourself how you want it. You just need maybe a sink or fridge unit and you are done?! Maybe have a look on Google for caravan breakers to get bit's and bob's?

Or a microbus seat with z hinges and a ikea futon mattress as mention on here before? That sounds cheap and comfy! You can have a mooch around my westy if it helps - when i move!

Or are you after a more modern finish with the whole lot done to your spec?

Cheers!

Unfortunately I was a little spoilt with my T4 Calypso Campers interior and now can't see the wood for the trees so to speak. My interior is very usable as you can see, thing is its HEAVY, I mean good that its solid but its really heavy. We are also after a full width rock and roll bed as can't seem to get a decent nights sleep. Think you are right though. I need to get creative with it. Maybe keep the main kithcen unit that I have but chop it down to accomodate a full width. I am pretty scetchy when it comes to fixing things up, I can mange the basics but usually end up creating more expense for myself when I get really involved. Mmmmm you have me thinking now though.....

Hi!

The interior looks great! So the problem is that it's heavy and uncomfortable causing you not too sleep? Your head is at the wide end, and feet near tailgate? - can be a be claustrophobic the other way round......
Would a full width be much better? You could always change the foam to some better stuff from somewhere online? if that's what's not comfy?
Maybe even a lightweight futon metal or wooden base, mounted up on a plinth for storage underneath, and a nice comfy mattress on top?, maybe have pull out drawers at the rear of the tailgate below where the bed would be, like on a devon/dormobile - i forget which...
You seem to have lots of good storage, seems a better set up in some ways than my westy. Would be a shame to loose useable space.

Cheers!

I know, the space is great to store all the crap needed on a weekend away. I think I need to get a new larger bit of foam coverd for the back where the spare wheel goes. At the moment the wife is falling down the hole as we sleep head up the back end. PLus as you know she is 31 weeks gone now so is HUGE which doesn help ( don't tell her that though, you will end up worse off) We did try sleeping the other way around, but I need the foot room and ended up loosing pillows all night. Will try new foam me thinks befor I dig out 4k for a new interior. I would like to see your westy lay out though.

As for the foam, how about a 2 stage foam, with a softish top of a few inches, and then a firmer bottom layer? Or just a firmer set up all round - depends what you prefer?
You would be better the other way round - but i know what you mean for foot space, and yes, the pillows do end on the floor - unless you sew some velcro on the pillow and bed base? There's a idea?!

If the spare is a actual spare, in that, i mean is a matched one to your normal wheels - there is always the option of fitting a spare wheel carrier under the van, like the ones fitted to caravan chassis - again a breakers for this, or maybe just a car scrapyard? Or Ebay? If the spare is there just 'cos it's somewhere to fit it, you could keep some tyre weld, or you can get some gel stuff, that stops punctures as they happen. You can get it for motorbikes and mobility scooters, so i am sure cars and vans are available. Thus solving the wasted space of the spare wheel well, allowing extra space for yer feet or head. Mines wasted as i have a flat OG tyre from the 70's, a Dunlop crossply - loads of thread, but of no use to man or beast! Might need to heed my own advice..........

Cheers!
