been doing my bay resto for last 3 years and just when i thought ive done all the welding i found more bits that need welding...... the bits are getting more and more awkward to do.... just so sick of welding... i really enjoyed it at first but now its becoming a right chore.....

Hang in there - keep going... there IS light at the end of the tunnel!
Focus on all the great work you've done so far, I'll bet you've done more than you remember - if you really can't face it then consider getting someone in to finish it off - there's no shame in that.

Try to banish those negative thoughts - replace them with positive daydreaming about going for a cruise in your newly MOT'd bus!

;)

I know how you feel mate, i bought my bus in mid November and since then i have spent every weekend cutting and welding, all of this work was done outside and in some cases i've resorted to dragging the welder under the bus with me when it has been raining and carrying on regardless. My drive is red with rust dust. Just when you think you have completed all the underside welding you have another poke and find even more. I am pleased to say all the underside welding is done but a lot more needs doing on the body, but the van is now on the road and i intend to use the bus and have some fun before i hopefully get the second wind and motivation to start the body. If i was you i'd have a break for a week or two and try again after a rest.

Basically I have had the exact same experience. Everybody has the resto blues, it will get better. I promise....

Chin up chuck - I've yet to start the welding (starts this week - well cutting
the belly pans out) having worked on the poptop and roof for the last
18 months or so. Like currylager says have a rest for a week or two then
restart the fun :) :D

A good tip to any resto is to treat each section as a mini project.

Just look at one rust spot & sort it completely. Forget about any of the other moody bits until it's their turn.

You won't feel so overwhelmed by it then...

thanks for all your advice chaps..... the thing is ive only just started again after a 6 month break from it.... cant really have another break yet.... i dont mind just welding repair panels on but some of the fabricating is driving me nuts.... trying to fabricate the channel that the rubber goes in around the engine bay, the bit above the gearbox and the side bits.... side bits made no probs but spent 2 days trying to make the curved one and it aint working.... grrr!!!

oh forgot to say that the rest of the welding wouldnt be to bad if i didnt have to spend hours trying to get rid of other peoples bodges..... rant over

thats exactly how i felt!

so, i sacked it off and sent it to be done while im earning enough to pay for it......so its a chequebook resto, i couldnt give a toss, its a resto none the less!!

the bits i did were mainly premade panels, and repairing outriggers made of filler!!!!

keep at it son!

i know yours is a 69 too, soe once mines rebuilt, if i have any bits left over, ill give you a shout - i tend to but the same things 2 or 3 times to be sure!
