I'd be interested in this as my carb is pretty worn, and has no adjustment left.

I've never been happy with anything from JK in the past but companies do change their policies and can do a u turn on quality.

Fingers crossed.

Got me a bargin tacho/dwell meter off pbay today, read up about the carb and think ive got a good idea what im doing 8)

Gonna whip the old one out and have a go withe the Empi in the next day or so.......

Ok

Fitted the carb today. The one I took off was a 30 PICT 3, so prob replaced at some point it the bus's history, the main difference being the fuel cut-off valve which you dont have on the Empi (30 PICT 1 copy).

Remember if you come accross a Original Solex 30 PICT 1 carb make sure its the model that has the Power Jet, this is located on the oposite side to the electric choke in the form of a Brass Hex head screw, without this Jet the carb wont be suitable for the 1600SP, only the 1200 & 1500 Beetles.

Back to the Empi, fitting was a breeze everything lined up as it should................

On test after setting the idle and mixture, everything went suprisingly smooth, no flat spots, no hesitation, idled well from speed, pulled well in all gears. So seems to be a bit of a result and well worth the £115 nicker!

Im thinking tho that the main jet on the Pict 3 may be slightly larger, i didnt get time to check earlier, if it is then it will prob be beneficial for me to change it over to gain a bit more power at the top end where the smaller jet may be getting lean...........

I wish I knew what that all meant...

I am hand with a spanner but do get lost in the engine bay, I could do with having more of a play over the winter.

I will be ordering one of these now at the end of the month.

Cheers for the info Just.

Trust me Jon it took hours of reading for me to understand it  Im not overly sure about the mixture issuses, but like i say the carb runs great so thats the important thing as far as im concerned.
