Hi,

Looking at the retro drive away awnings that JK do at just over £300. What are people's experiences with them that have one, are they any good, would they recommend etc?

Cheers

I got one fairly recently, although it's second hand so a few years old it's still the same design I believe. I really like it, we paid £140 for it in "needs a peg loop" condition.
I've not had awnings before (grew up caravanning but just got the van on the road myself) but up until this year I camped everywhere in this big blue chalet style tent, remember the sort? Haven holiday style. So the following is in reference to that.

The awning is far simpler to assemble and seems better quality- I put it up in the rain last time and it took two of us five minutes. I suspect I could have done it in three had I been alone. It's also sturdier- the poles are really nice and thick and where there's a simple swaged male-female joint, there's also a thumbscrew clamp to keep it all together. The upright legs are extendable, so you can put the awning up at waist height, then drape the canvas over and extend the legs. Then just peg it down and you're done :) It all packs away neatly too, and if you don't need the side walls you can roll two of them up and unzip one, so you just have the roof and one side. Haven't tested the groundsheet or inner room yet but I'm not expecting any issues with eithe rof those.

Hope this helps

Simon

I used one for years it's good awning, even used it too store loads of stuff from my garage over winter when I had an extension built.
It's for sale if you want a cheap one, £50 ?

Used the same one for last 5 years in all weathers and never leaked. Inner tent big enough for double air bed with plenty space outside for chairs etc if weather poor. As Simon posted really easy to erect and looks pretty cool to,
Well worth the money
Mark
