I've just rewired my indicators and full beam back to being on the stalk (previous Aussie owner had transferred them to switches on dash!).
Here's the problem:
Indicators work fine when lights aren't on.
With lights on right indicator works, but left won't!!

I've checked the earth for the left indicator and the issue's not there.
The only other thing I can think is a problem within the stalk - but I've stripped that back as far as I can without unbending the metal tags.

Anyone any ideas?? I've got my MOT on Saturday and currently I'm praying they'll check the indicators with the lights off only!!
P.S wiring for lights and indicators as per wiring diagram (1972)

Well, looking at the 72 bay (non USA) diagram on vintagebus.com the only thing that makes any sense is the possibility that the earth to the indicator relay is being affected by the lights somehow. This assumes that you have wired it exactly as that diagram. Under fault conditions do you still have 12 volts at the white wire to the relay? Confirm that there is a viable earth to tag 31 on the relay.

The first thing I would do is run a seperate wire form earth to the left rear unit, see if that improves matters,if not do the same for the front left common earth point.
Also check the connectors are round the right way on the front left sidelight, live goes to the middle of the bulb holder.

Thanks for the suggestions. I went down to check the earth was correctly attached at the left indicator, took it off, back on and now the indicator's working with the lights on, but still flashing slightly slower - so we're getting there!! :?
