I'm looking to buy a Leisure battery for the bus. I've looked at some previous threads, the consensus seems to be that 85amp is ample (LOL)!
Are most people running a split relay?
Cheers

Split charge relay is your first port of call, there are loads out there to choose from, I bought mine from a guy selling at vanfest but I'm sure he sells on ebay too. I liked the kit as the relay was chunky and the kit included everything required right down to pre-cut bits of heat shrink for the terminals. Haven't got round to getting a proper leisure battery so using one from a vectra at the moment!

This is the only pic I've got at the mo, relay is bolted to spare wheel well.

No idea, haven't had a chance to use it yet! I've been lugging it around since just after vanfest last year but first camping trip is at easter so I will find out then. At least It's being kept charged and I know the OG dynamo can handle it (so far anyway)

Heres a picture of mine fitted using a self switching relay.
Bought the battery and the relay from a local caravan shop for a lot cheaper than i have seen VW shops sell them for

Hey Froggy,
How are you finding the smart relay? I don't have a charging light wire from my regulator so can't use a standard relay.
How much was it? And what is the make / model number?
And finally! What guage / amp wire did you use?

Cheers, Neil

i just bought a 113amp one on ebay, made by lucas, 3yr guarantee, deep cycle one
