Lighter socket

I noticed that my camper doesnt have a lighter socket, i will definatly need one, but want the van to look standard, has any one got a photo of the dash with an original lighter, if the ever came with them

mark, you can buy the triple lighter sockets from maplin and halfords for a few bob, these can be fitted under or even hidden a little bit back behind without having to butcher your dash and just wire it up.

My dash is cracked in a couple of places so wasn't too fussed with drilling it and fitting a socket, just got a plain one and it doesn't really notice :mrgreen:

I understand lighter sockets could be had as an option on bays, and that they are still available (ebay amongst others) but not cheap.

I may go for the hidden option, i just hope there is anough powere generated by the dynamo to charge two phones and power the sat nav lol

must add an alternator to my shopping list!

they are all designed for low current draw so you'll have no problems with those gadgets at all.

on my 70 deluxe it was in the big hole in the 1st pic just to the left of the ash tray and on the 71 kombi it is under the glove box door as in the 2nd picture. i have seen others placed under the glove box door as in the 2nd pic. these are both lhd buses.

I picked up an OG one at a show for a few quid, Ill post a pic later. I didnt fancy a modern one.
