Can someone help !
My 2 year old has lost the keys to my Dormobile. I have managed to get in and get the serial numbers for the
cab doors,(to get key cut) but how do i get the serial number for the sliding door, can't get the barrel out of the handle.
Also how do i get the serials for the tailgate and engine lid, can't see how i'm going to access them.
I need to get to all the locks because i had two diffrent keys, one opened the cab doors and i think the other was for the sliding door. Col.

me bro in law helped a lad last year at a show who had lost his keys by lending his to him and it worked a treat.....ask a few owners around that ya know and give theirs a try ya never know ;)

ste

Or think like a 2 year old..

have you checked in the microwave, DVD player, , down the toilet, buried in the garden?

My youngest daughter ( 3yrs old) has a habit of borrowing things she likes, however we always find whatevers lost in her toy box. Seems to be her stash of stolen goodies,

Hope she grows out of this

Yes you need to turn the sliding door lock to get to the grub screw or cut the collar with a grinder and replace the collar. You'll need to get one of the other door locks apart. If you take the panel off for the tailgate can you get to the mechanism to open that and strip that down?

Cutting the collar maybe the cheepest option if you can't get the others off(buy a cheap cruddy one from a show, you can't see it anyway) or try some different keys to jiggle it round? Once you're done you may as well configure all the locks to work with one key.

Take off the circular cap from the inside sliding door handle with a small flat screwdriver (i am sure this should be possible with the door locked), undo the grub screw, the handle assembly then slides out complete from the outside containing the barrel etc. The code for that barrel should be stamped on the barrel case (unless it has been changed), should start with L or R. Justin from C&C kindly told me that two weeks ago. Three minutes work, there it was. He was spot on.

Thanks for the responses guys much appreciated. i'm at a dead end with the slider and engine and tailgate. New keys ordered for cab, hopefully i will be able to use them to get other locks open, failing that the guys at Retro Customs nr Stevenage will be able to perform some jiggery pockery i'm sure. This little incident has opened my eyes to how easy it is to get into a locked camper, it took me seconds with an old coathanger, so i now need to get some sort of security device to at least slow down an intruder !

I didn't realise you where in Stevenage I just noticed,I'm working in Hertford tommorow fitting an engine in a camper, and theres a couple of other campers there also,I could bring my keys there too.If you want to meet me there with the handle or the whole van (if you've got an ignition key by then) I'm sure we can get the locks open between us.

VWAIRCOOLED :Not sure whats on the agenda tomorrow, but my mobile is 07855838879. Don't need ignition key as it has a push button start. If you read this before tomorrow just post a number i can reach you on or your location and i will try and get over. Many thanks. Col.

Hi Everyone that offered help and advice on the lost keys saga. Just to let you know, the keys that i had cut from the cab serial numbers turned up today, and to my suprise not only did they open the cab doors, they also opened the sliding door and the tailgate and engine lid. It's about time something went right. Total cost £12. Beats the £120 approx for new locks plus whatever it would of cost to remove the tailgate and engine lid locks so that new ones could be fitted. Still smiling. No doubt something else will happen tomorrow and claim the money i have saved today.

Well done there all good.
Just need to up the security.Sounds like a lollypop stick could open the doors.

Lost key update part 2.
My 10 year old daughter has just walked in from the garden with the LOST KEYS. They were under the decking. Typical, just one day after the replacements turned up. Not all bad, at least i have the alarm and immobiliser fobs back now.
