My restorer just sent me an email saying he can't find the all important "M" plate. I have the chassis number etc from import docs, does this mean my bus is worthless....??? Help please

The M plate I have here as my signature, I've just decoded it online and it matches my bus perfectly. Can't remember how I got it though it's been that long! Matches my chassis number and everything. Now I am confused. Also it comes up with special colour and a number, how do I find that colour code?

It says:522552 special Color?

Also can another m plate be made if the old one is lost?

Thanks...

Your plate with the chassis number is more important in the eyes if the law. If everything matches then don't worry. I imagine another one could be made, it is only stamped metal after all.

When I had mine registered, the guy at DVLA went straight to the engine compartment and checked that number first, I assume because its stamped in the body, not pop riveted on like the M plate. I would have thought that as long as the number in the engine bay is right, you'll be o.k.

What happens if it's had new battery trays? Or is it on the body? Sorry to be asking dumb stuff, my bus is 200 miles away.

Thanks. :)

It's on the chassis, not on the battery trays.

If you look in the engine bay it is on the right hand side, nearer to you than the air-filter stand, to the left of the "seam" between battery tray and body. The chassis number is stamped on a slightly raised section.
