I have noticed that my front suspension is missing all of its bump stops. The van has been lowered a bit by previous owner and may have removed them. If I go over a larger bump in the road, I do get a heavy jolt from the front. The rear suspension sits on the bump stop all the time but seems to work ok. I am still on standard steel wheels so the bus can't have been lowered too much as the tyres don't rub.

Should I get some for the front? If so, do I need special ones for lowered vans?

Cheers

I had the same problem when I lowered my front end by 3 inches, until I had a look and noticed that I forgot the stops. Clip in a bump stops on the top and it will eliminate the loud bang when metal hits metal, even though the ride comfort will still be the same.

Cheers,

Is there not enough room for upper and lower?

There sure is but once lowered 3 inches or more ... you'd have to be airborne to hit the lower bumpstops

I would also cut the rear ones down. Mine was sat on them for a while, and the sidewall of the tyre becomes your suspension, which is probably not good for the tyre/wheels and joints. I cut one bump off to give some movement and the ride quality is noticeably different when you hit a bump!

Nice one - thanks!

So, got some upper bump stops and when trying to fit them found this - I am presuming that what they were supposed to be attached to has been removed.

Yes, that's the same with mine and most others I believe. If you really want some kind of bumpstop on the front RED 9 sell a piece that bolts through the hole you have left.
