Had a great weekend at Volksworld all in all but it didn't start too well...

Got all the way to Esher and was stationary at the lights when all of a bastard sudden BANG!!!

A stupid artic lorry driver decided he would fit through the smallest of gaps obviously in a hurry. He hit the mirror first and as I accelerated left to get away he his us hard in the right hand side rear corner stuffing a lovely big dent in just below the swage line.

We pulled over and inspected the damage as he carried on driving away from us oblivious to what had just happend. My heart sank when I saw the damage but then a guy by the name of John wound down his window and shouted I should 'chase' him. As I never do anything like this normally and always strive to avoid conflict I thought.....Go for it and went after him....yeah a full on arctic lorry!!!!!!

We caught up after about 2 miles and much to our amazment John in his BMW Z3 was chasing him too trying to stop him for us. I will add we had never met this guy before, cool eh!

The high speed chase continued over the next couple of miles as he wasn't stopping for anyone so through the streets we both chased beeping our horn and flashing our lights. I was even hit with a wicked sense of adrenilin and commented to my partner something along the lines of 'THIS IS ****** AWESOME'!!

Anyway, between us we finally managed to pincer block him to a standstill and try to tell him what he'd done. As you'd expect he wasn't having any of it (he thought we were trying to hijack him!!) but after much shouting and general mayhem as we blocked the entire road that's us, the BMW and the full on Arctic in a kinda horseshoe shape we all agreed to pull over into a train station and it was there we sorted it all out.

So that's me Volksworld story, over to the insurance companies now.

Glad no one was hurt but it was a real shame as our bus is totally unrestored / unwelded etc.

Oh well! :(

Gutted about the damage, good on you for standing up against a truck, I was waiting to turn right at a junction in my work van a coupke of years ago when a truck tried to fit through the gap, bounced off the kerb into the side of me and ripped the mirror off, I gave chase and after a few miles managed to cut him off and get his details. His only defence was.....its only a mirror

Sorry about the damage :(
Glad you caught him :D
Good luck with the insurance :?:

bad news dude

at least you caught him tho

i have visions of a steve mcqueen style chase up and down hill of san fransisco, but with a bay and an arctic....lol

Glad you caught the lorry driver, and I hope you get your bay fixed without hassle. :)

When I went, it was a crawl all the way from the motorway to the showground. Mustav taken me nearly an hour to do that stretch, but it was my first Veedub show and I enjoyed it. :)

LOL!

Sorry 'bout the damage, good luck with the repairs (and the insurance company)!

Everyone seemed to turn right from the carpark and queue, I went left, through Sunbury and joined the M3 at J1 and sailed home to Reading in under an hour

that sucks dude :x
hope you get it sorted asap, if you need new rear corners berkshire bugs got NOS ones for sale on here, dont stand for a "filler" job on your untouched bus!
good luck!

sorry to hear about the lorry driver collision, but glad you caught up with the bell end

as slammedkustom says only replace with NOS panels not a quick filler and spray job that they will reccomend

I had an incident with a pikey a few years ago and gave chase, caught up with him and he started to give me crap when i was in the van, so stepped out and he suddenly noticed i was taller than me van and twice his size, so in his best trying not to back down voice heoffered me a telly in the spot!

Then what happened?

like a fool of a took, i didnt take the telly (as it was blatently hot) and got his mobile number and of course i knew where he lived (parked his caravan!) Anyway after a few weeks of hime being a nob etc i asked various people for advice, but as usual the police didn`t want to do anything (not worth the hasstle they said! )

Basically didnt fancy getting the van burnt out when parking it around the town, plus i went to where he had been and he had moved on  so i let it drop. cost me £600 to get sorted. Bit gutted really, but i still have his number and give him some great phonecalls from made up people when i get bored   just would love to see the pr**k again as i would dismantle his motor, using him as a spanner!!
