Needing A Respray...

Finally got ourselves a beautiful 1969 early bay! However it is had a bit of a duff paint job, so will need a respray. Can anyone recommend somewhere? I am in Cheshire, so ideally not in Cornwall :lol: , but happy to travel a bit if needs be.

OR.... do we just go with a blowover type thing? The condition is great, but the graffiti job is done over the original blue paint. Rather than change the whole bus, is a blowover a good ide just to get our external blue back?

Or are blowovers/lesser paint jobs terrible things?

if the graffitti job is over your orginal paint can you not get the original p[aint back by cleaning off a layer or two of crud,

Very labour intensive but cheaper and cooler than a fresh paint job!

..... Feeling stupid for not thinking of that. What on earth would I use though? Surely any chemicals would just pull up the actual paintwork too?

AC body works there in Stockport next to portwood timber they are old school, did a great job on mine!
sorry everyone but there are body shops in the north west that are up to the job too :shock:
They even let me join in sanding to bear metal about 40 hour what a bitch of a job :evil:
I'm nobody as regards bodywork i thought spark plug was a name of a band :lol: but sanding no probs.
regardless that we all wear flat caps and have black and white tellies
Ozzies suggestion about taking it back to OG paint is good advice if possible. I changed the colour of mine because of all the blooming work
and my mate said the van looked like a punch and Judy show :evil: that was the final nail in the, well bus

this is the ad which i bought my bus from, i carried on the process including also using 400 to 800 grit wet and dry paper (wet) to sand off the thick american primer you see all over my bus in the above thread link.

it is now in its original blue, and i paid £500 to have it clear lacquered over the top to protect the old paint and make it shine again
