Hey guys/girls,

Been a fan of splits and bays since the 90's when some of my mates had classic VW's and a couple of them worked at the Karman Connection in Essex, but at the time I was more into classic fords.

Have nearly bought one a few times over the last 30 years, but funds always needed to go elsewhere.
Joined here in 2018 when again I was browsing, but seriously started looking about 6 months ago.
Originally from Essex, but now live on the Cambridgeshire /Norfolk boarder.

Anyway, finally made a purchase and love it. Have started a thread in the Gallery section, and hope to be an active member.
Aircooled VW are new to me, so I have much to learn, but I'm generally fairly handy so looking forward to the regular tinkering.

Hi Sam, glad you’ve joined us. As far as busses go, it looks like you’ve bagged a beaut there. Probably see you at some of the shows this year and that’s th3 best place to pillage ideas and suss what works well and what don’t work so good. Just keep your eyes on the oil levels until you know for sure how much your bus uses and make sure you got a spare fanbelt that fits. A lot easier to buy from the comfort of your arm chair.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,Big Big Welcome bud. :)

Yeah, I've checked the oil before every journey so far, and hasn't used a drop yet. Even put some cardboard under it in the garage as I assumed it would be staining the floor dripping....but nothing on there yet either!
I have purchased a new fan belt and have it spare in the bus already.
I remember reading a 'what to carry with you' post on here a while back, so will find that again to make sure I've got the spares and tools I need on-board.

Maybe put your new fan belt on to make absolutely certain that it fits. Then triple loop your old one and store it in a zip lock style sandwich bag or similar, maybe tuck it in the back of the passenger seat. Making sure you got a fan belt that fits is a lot easier at home rather than on the side of the highway and a known old one is a great get you home fix.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,, Try not to mix your oil :)

Yeah good shout. The fitted one is a 10x 906, but I feel is slightly slack. (I can twist it nearly 180 degrees) So I bought a 10x 905 for it to be a bit tighter. But you're right, I should try it, before I need it!
