Say hello here on this thread ...
Hi
I'm new to Forums and totally lost!
I've posted some questions, with zero response, so clearly I'm doing something wrong
So can someone help this old duffer please . . and make it real simple
1
Where do I post a question?
2
Where do I look for a response?
That's it really
Regards
Roy

Hello there roybird, a big welcome to you and if there’s anything you need to know, click onto ‘’General’’ Then pose your question or query and someone will point you in the right direction. There’s lots of info already on here too if you press the search function into action.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, then maybe a picture or two ???

Roy bird as Ozzie said. If it’s a general question then general it is. Anything about fixing the van on tech. There is a good search engine on here so try that first. There are some very knowledgeable people here who are always happy to help.

Hi just joined I am glad to be on the site looks good! I have a 69 Dormobile that I am working on hoping to find some help with it here.

Not stictly new because I used to post on here as Rosko a long time ago. Thought it best to say hello though.

After a ten year wait I've got van again - a 1972 microbus bought from a very nice bloke on Thelatebay (us crossdresser fans can join what we like).

Before I saw this beauty I very nearly bought Rev-Al's very nice LHD crewcab that was advertised on here but got a smaller bonus than I'd expected and couldn't manage an offer that was near enough to his perfectly reasonable bottom price.

Anyway, between Christmas and New Year I flew to London highly pleased and picked up my new van in Essex. Drove it back to just south of Toulouse where I live with no problems other than a snapped accelerator cable. Not that easy to fix with no tools but I got home. Went to the excellent semi-local VW specialists SpeedShop to get a new cable and some French headlights last week. Parked outside was what looked like a replica of Rev-Al's crewie! I was a bit puzzled but it turned out a bloke from Toulouse had bought it so we ended up having a big chat about how cheap UK buses are now that the pound is doing so badly - every Brexit has a silver lining I suppose.

Hi
I'm totally at a loss as to how to raise a question here so please be tolerant.
I have a 1971 lhd T2 which is lovely but have continuing problems with lights ....is head side and rear. All of the back plates are failing.👎 . Would love to upgrade . Need advice on bulbs and bulb holders as would like to keep so fa as possible the original fittings .... But happy to change the lot if necessary.
Also any advice on fitting gas struts to a front hinged westie pop up would make me a very happy man . If you can also help Liverpool win the Premiership this year then 💕💕💕💕
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave, I remember when I very first went on a forum and didn’t really know what a thread was etc etc. Well you’ve done the scary bit and put up your first post so it’s all pretty much plain sailing from now  . So welcome along and when you get the hang of it, you can add a photo of your van for all to see. Right at the top of the page about an inch in from the left is a thing ‘FAQs’ and that’s frequently asked questions about how to use this site and how to navigate around etc. Just under that is ‘Board Index’ and if you click that bit it will give you all the different bits that you can click on. One of them is ‘General ‘ and that’s run of the mill day to day stuff and one of them is ‘Technical ‘ and that’s about stuff that’s broke on these vans and how to fix them etc. You can post your questions on there but you can also go on there and at the top right hand side of the page is a box with search written in it, you can tap there and search for similar problems to what you’re experiencing and sometimes you have to try different words to generate an answer. I’m afraid eleck trickery isn’t my cup of tea either so pop your question in the technical bit and see who comes up with anything

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,and welcome big time too

Huyrob welcome. Tech is the place to start as ozzie says. Most things that you have a problem with would have happened before to someone. Now, I have been on here a few years and am getting along well with mechanical stuff. I knew nothing on day one. Electrics however still a complete mystery to me I have no idea how that juju works. This year I aim to start learning. I can change a bulb although I will be honest it took me an hour to work out how to get the headlight off the van. Just start searching for key words although you can get a bit over your head initialy with info overload.

Hey Rick P. Now that’s a great looking bus, and that’s one hell of a roof rack, bet that slows you down a bit  So a big HI back to you and glad you’ve found us on this forum.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,, summers peeking out at us toooo

Hoorah! - another from our neck of the woods (we are bang in middle of Manchester & Liverpool on the A580). Welcome aboard and look forward to the pics. You will find a wealth of info on this site and when we did our restoration we made a lot of use of the 'search' function to find info. that was already posted that helped with the resto.

Jon welcome mate. Get some pics up. Very friendly place this although it’s been quiet of late. Loads of help on here, try the search function first. It can be a bit confusing but you get around it. Welcome to a fellow Dormobile owner and a crosser as well. The best kind of people

Looking forward to picking up my '69 bay tomorrow. (Always wanted an early bay ever since I owned a 78 bay 25 years ago).

I'll post some pick when I get it.

The bodywork is sound and the engine is new. I plan to rearrange the units inside and replace the 3/4 rear seat with a full width one so I can get 3 in the back. I'm guessing this is just a case of buying the R&R bed then getting the cushions made? Any suggestions for the best place to look for this?
