Hi, Ive just signed up and it would be rude not to say "hi", so....

Hi.

My name is Chris and Ive got a 71 dormobile. Its the first and only dub Ive owned. Ive had it since 1999, so you could say I quite like it. I dont use it as much as I used to, and I have come close to selling it in recent years, but I dont think I could go through with it. I see some familiar names on here that I recognise from other forums. Hi to you all.
Following on from and eventful journey to Vanfest, I will probably be asking advice on electrical problems.

Hey Kerplunk, (great name and game too) how weird is that ?? About three posts before your opener there was a dude called Matthew who happens to specialise in auto lecky tricks, but give us a try in the Techy section first and see what we can come up with :msn4: obviously ,, not me personally,, that`ll be the royal we  So enjoy yourself and fill us in on where you`re parked up (town) and maybe we have some other members close to you. But defo try the Techy bit and there may even be one of the cleverer dudes on there . ;)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,The last thing you want,,,, is me on your leccky tricks, ;)

hi guys

Been watching earlybay for a while now and though it was about time i signed up. My names dan and i got a 68 crew cab,
which is so close to being on the road. When i get a spair moment ill put some pictures up.

YES ,, piccys are more than welcome, and the more the merrier  So hello to both of you, sorry about the late reply, I`ve been forced into servitude by Mrs Ozziedog (decorating) because I`m not gonna be around much this weekend as it`s Oktoberfest in Cheddar and I shall be very very busy emptying Stella bottles and supervising things on the BBQ and also chief test pilot and taster of foods of all descriptions  A couple of interesting names there as well :? So would you care to elucidate ??

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, Head taster for Stella and Birds Eye

Hi All,
As today is the day, my 1970 pop-top Westy has landed from the US :D , and to mark the occasion, i thought i would come forth from the shadows, from where i have been lurking for a good few months and say hello to your all.
The pic below is my van sourced and imported via John aka ‘theovalguy’. I have already met a few fellow earlybayers on here who have been a great help so far, i hope this may continue for many a year. Anyway, see what you think (if i can work out how to post some pics!! :? .)
Cheers
Ross.

Thanks Jay71.
I am hoping she is as good as she looks in the pics anyway. I did pay a bit more to get a good solid one although i am praying there isn't too much 'bondo' under all that paint  Wife insisted on a 'shiney one' rather than my preference for OG paint. :x
In terms of plans, just the usual really - lowered, alloys, rust protection - main thing is to use it as was originally intended - camping with the family.

Hello, been reading the site for a while but felt I could finally join now that I'm the proud owner of my lovely Little Red Van - a 1972 RHD Westy with original interior. She's not 'pure' as she's had a full photographic restoration and rebuild by Ian and his team at VW Kampers, but she's gorgeous and I love her dearly. It's been a 20-year long dream to own a little red van van so I'm currently on cloud 9 (although my hubby thinks I'm nuts!). :p

Mainly here to understand how to look after her and keep her looking spanky new, and how to maintain her especially through the winter, and of course any things to look out for. Also, any recommendations for good air-cooled garages near to Powys / Hereford (Ian in Brighton is sadly just too far to go or I'd be there in a heartbeat)?

Got my Haynes manual (not the most interesting bed-time reading!) and I'm good to go! If you see me and my 'Klarabelle' around the Welsh mountains, do give us a wave! :D

Hello to all,

I'm new to Early Bay and to early bay's. Picked up my first (and hopefully my last as I like it so much), 69 Westy from Graham at Midland Early Bay in the middle of September and he directed me towards you all in search of any help and tips I might find useful and said that you were all decent kinds of folk who wouldn't laugh to much at my inevitable stupidity. So I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.

John

Hello!

Having been introduced to this forum by Nick (71Westy), I've just agreed to buy Bermuda_Blue's 72 Westy cross-over so I guess I'll be hanging around here for a good while. I have to say, buying through this forum and getting lots of 'oh, you can trust that guy' and 'that's a solid bus' style comments has made the whole thing stress free up 'til now - so thanks. :D

Now need to learn about pancake engines and 'through the wardrobe seatbelt solutions' amongst other things....

Cheers,

Al

Hello!

Been lurking for a little while, thought I'd better join the fun. Sure I'll have loads of questions for you guys.

Lee

Well well well,, look away for what seems like five minutes and peeps are almost queueing up to say hello ;) So hello to you guys and guy esses , some nice looking busses there and piccys are always welcome here too. Whatever you do, just don`t think ` Oh that`s daft ' or `They`ll laugh at me' . For crying out loud, we`ve all got to start somewhere and if you don`t know,, then you just don`t know  Besides we could do with a chuckle every now and then as well  I`m as daft as any of them and I drop the occasional howler and try and make out that I was mucking about, I usually blame it on the lack of or too much Stella

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, Enjoy yourselves on here  ;)
