Hi Guys

About time I introduced myself and said hello. Very rude of me I apologise. I'm an aussie currently travelling Europe with my wife and kids in a caravan. We're thinking of settling down for a few years somewhere in this fine continent, just not too sure where yet.

Sold my late bay camper just before I left OZ and I need to get back in a bay. I'm desperate to find my ultimate ride which would be a single cab but I'm noticing they're a little hard to find in good condition. As a back up I would settle for a micro deluxe.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing my limited expertise. I know how we all love pics so here's one of my old camper back home. Excuse the misplaced indicators, incorrect bumper and shocking ride height. :)

G`day mate  Nothing wrong with stock, and that one looks like a fine example, shame about the toasters on the back though ;) . Feel welcome because you are, and join in at your leisure  Keep your eyes open, but the rust gets em over here. Was a nice single for sale over on the latebay a month or so ago, may be worth a peep. Might pay a lot less over on the continent than here in Pommie Land. :msn4:

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,, Not a real Aussie, also not a real dog

Thanks for the welcome Ozziedog. Happy to be a part of it all.

On the continent at the moment searching for "the one". Off to Holland on the weekend to see the local talent. Will keep you all posted.

Thanks again
Aspro

Hello, another newbie signing in! Been lurking for a while and thought it was about time I said hello. :D

We're on the lookout for our 1st bay. Typical woman, can't decide what I want. We hired one (albeit not an early  ) in the summer and the kids loved it. Holidays can be a bit difficult usually as they have autism but they loved it and are now equally bay obsessed! Tip: Good way to get what you want = get the kids on board!

We're not exactly new to "older" vehicles as I used to have a beat up 1976 MGB and the other half has a 1956 Series One Land Rover lurking in the garage. Who would love a bay to sit next to in our double garage that already had to be adapted to get the Landy in!

Not sure the best place to look to buy really, I must confess I would like something shiny. Not bothered which side the steering wheel is, and don't care about colour. I just don't want to buy a nice shiny one and find 3 weeks later bits falling off!

Any advice would be gratefully received ;)

Hi there,, like you say , it`s good holidays and more  So welcome and start looking, bit I expect you allready have started ;) The imports seem to be the way forward and there is a nice one for sale at the moment and he seems to come highly recommended by previous owners as well. If I could start from scratch again, that bus would be my first choice I think. So good luck with the search and make sure you keep us up to speed with your progress

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, What`s shiny mean ????? ;)

Hello everyone, I've been trawling this fine forum for a few months as a guest, gleaning lots of good advice and getting a feel for which bus to go for. Well, very pleased to say that after about a year of searching (we are a bit slow), we are now the proud owners of Rosie, our beautiful '71 Deluxe California Lhd microbus with a sunroof.

Is it normal to be a little bit in love with your bus? Don't tell anyone, but I've been known to give her a hug when we put her back in the shed after a nice day out ; D

Am on tapatalk at the mo so can't post pics on this, but will put some on the gallery. You may be familiar with her already though as we bought her from another EarlyBayer, Decapman, and it's been fascinating being able to read old posting about her on here!

Looking forward to lots of adventures next year when the sun is shining again. Hoping for a little trip around northern europe, and some small festivals over here. And of course, looking forward to meeting fellow EarlyBayers!

Hi, been lurking a bit and finally decided to join up.

Our bay is a 1970 Westy US import which the missus insists on calling Poppy

We've nearly had her a year now and are finally getting round to doing some work on her!

The fibreglass roof is proper tatty but hopefully with some sanding and some paint it'll come up good as new and after stubbing our knees one too many times we've taken out the sink/fridge unit (just need to get the hole underneath welded up now!)

We may be advertising that for sale on here soon.

Oh, and if anyone knows where we can get one white hub cap, I'd be really grateful. All of the auto jumbles I've tried have only got the chrome ones

Hi All,

After much lurking, I too feel compelled to join..... I've been the proud owner of Graham Ls old Austrian camper (now christened Otis) since July and love it.

George

Hey there George B,, it would seem that this site all went a little Pete Tong just after you joined yesterday, I`m sure it was nothing to do with you  These things seem to happen just every now and then so when it does, we all pop over to the late bay site, and when theirs went south,,, they all popped over here, it`s all dead freindly like that ;) Reckon you may have to pop up a piccy or two of Otis, just so we can have a gawk.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, And a big welcome to you as well

Hello and welcome to all new crews! come on in, settle down and enjoy! 8)

Hi.... Have joined the photobucket site and uploaded some pictures... surprised myself that the only ones I had were those that I had to send to insurers for valuation, so will need to take some more ...... but not yet managed to work out how to get them on here.... will try later

hi guys been looking around the forum for ages then i joined up. This is my first post on here though :!: I bought a 1971 bay window bus in 2008. It had a new engine and looked nice as had not long been resprayed. Used the bus a few times that year as bought it about sept time and then parked it up as i wanted to referb inside as only a bed in there. Thats where it all went wrong started stripping the inside out and then got made redundant. Gutted couldnt afford to do anything with it then. Parked up for the winter and all summer, i could see rust starting to appear. Being my first bus and new to the scene you have probally guessed by now i had been caught by po covering up rust with filler and new paint. Anyway have not long started to do some resto work on her and luckly enough underneath isnt bad its the rear which is in poor condition, the rear corners are shot as are the rear arches engine lid and tailgate. Also sliding door is very poor and need new seals all round. Been looking at some resto work done by members and been very impressed by the work done. Will probally be asking loads of silly questions to help me restore mine.
PS i was at dubsatthecastle this year and looked at your line up. They were great looking buses there hope i can be there in mine next year

Dont think I got to posting in this section, so now is as good a time as any to introduce myself. My names Steve, I live in the Midland's.
My bus needs no introductions, as many of you will probably already know of her. Olive is her name, a 1970 Westy US import. Previously owned by Tiki-al off this forum, who takes full credit for how stunning she looks today!
Since purchasing her in August i've attended a couple of shows, entering once in show & shine, and she won best in her class! So a good start! Met a few other members off here in the process.
Needless to say i'm looking forward to next season, and already booked my tickets for 'Camper Jam 2012' booking a place on the 'Show & Shine' so I'll no doubt see a few of you there hopefully!

Nice looking bus there George, looks almost new, you mastered the photos a lot quicker than some (me) I can do it some times and others,,,,,,,, well who knows what goes wrong. That`s the only thing on here that I`ve noticed they`ve given up on,,,,,, me and photos  . T2 man,,, that applies to you as well ^^^ pop up some piccies and let`s see what you`re dealing with here ;) I prefer to just keep mine rolling and do stuff in the winter, if I had him parked up for any length of time  I just know I`d start to lose heart  And Steve (another one) aka Foz, you were so glad that we convinced you to come to Berkeley, good show to anyone that didn`t go to the first one, well worth a little cruise over to the castle. We seem to be well endowed  with Simons and Steves, very very popular names amongst dubbers.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,, Got a few dogs of various types too  ;)
