My horn has stopped working today for absolutely no reason. Any ideas??? Is this a common failure????

Cheers!

Check there is power to the horn with the ignition on, either with a volt meter or test lamp. It's much easier with 2 people. If there is no power then that could be why.
If there is power, then put the earth probe on the other wire & get someone to press the horn. If you get a reading then the circuit is good & the horn is faulty.
If there is no reading, the earth return to the horn, ip the column is broken. the normal suspect it the earth tab that goes right at the base of the column. crawl underneath & have a look with a torch...

Pete.

I had this problema nd was the earth, which had come adrift :( a little fiddling and it was sorted.

That reminds me my horn is rubbish, so time to upgrade! 8)

While striping down my van down ready to go into the body shop, found 2 extra horns, none connected. Then took the belly pan off to find another 2 under that. Out of 5 only 1 is wired up.

I guess the previous owners jest put mor on when they stopped working or he had a rageing horn fettish.

Is it possible to get to the horn earth (spade connector) at the bottom of the column by going underneath?

The reason i ask this is because i changed my ignition switch loom and barrel this week and haven't re connected the earth

Don't really want to have to take the column out again if i dont have to

Yes, it is under the square steering coupling that connects the column to the steering gearbox.
