i have just had two complete wheel arch/steps and the inner/outer lower front apron arrive for the camper

WHAT THE F*~$ :!:

are all panels as bad as these, they have come via ......... and are klokkerholm panels couple still have stickers on.

i just rang .......... and i said "no reflection on you" "but are all panels as **** as these" and he said pretty much unless you get NOS at 200quid for a complete step.

is he right if i get them from heritage or schofield or gsf are they still gonna be klokkerholm panels.................

please, i am right dissapointed :( i guess i was expecting something perfect, dash of primer and a paint would look ace but will need to fettle for hours on these....... :? :x

good as you get ,total ****.if yours is a cross over get genuine late and cut the step of .you will still need to fettle though as door piller is differant so needs a bit of tweking and the gap under the door will be a bit bigger.fitted loads you just need to check alinment to door before welding ;)

yeah trouble is step that is on the bus is mostly fresh air if i am gonna fettle might as well fettle new metal, i am doing away with the small bulge on the arch and just having flat.

i was just surprised how rough they are

Sometimes the money you spend on NOS you save in the long run on welding/fab time.
Plus they last longer and dont sound like tin plate when you give them a tap.

Definitely agree with that I bought a pair through Just Kampers & they were absolute *****....sent the other back after wrecking the one trying to fit....sourced some NOS ones in Germany, paid a lot of money for the pair put fit superb.....and look a lot better than the new arches with modded step for EB. They are getting rare so price can be expensive.

Well worth it in my opinion.....

Probably not what you want to here mate, but i tried by hardest not to go for repro panels.

rather than NOS, you could go for donor cuts. again, not cheap, but the dog leg arches are pretty solid if imported panels. i got mine from FBIVW.

and to add to the mix she's a crossover, early step but has the bulge/swage on the arch.

bay-low how much did you pay mate

All the same im afraid mate ..

Just wait till you come to fit them!

From experience, every front dog leg ive fitted has been at least 15mm smaller than the gap it fits in ..

.. But its an overal loss .. meaning you cant just extend at one end .. mine were cut into 3 sections to make them fit ..

Next time im saving up for cuts defo ..

Hilly

try Graham at FBI for cuts even a rusty one will be better those **** Black ones
I got a complete cut A pillar through B pillar and they cost about £150 each but now I still have the original joint gaps

if you want a good job its worth spending the money

gonna ring sean at FBI today they have a coupla crossover arches in stock.........scared to think of the cost but really only want to do this once and do it right, i'm def with you guys on if you scrimp you'll never have such a good job sometimes spending the extra is worth it long term,

the way we are looking at it is what we saved on holidays by camping in the bus even abroad over the last five years and we bought before the boom, it will be money well spent.

thanks for the feedback guys, and keep your eye out in the gallery, if i can will start a resto thread this weekend, the old girl is called flossie by the way (bus not the wife)

cheers mate, i've been trying to get graham for a coupla days and he's just rung me back.......got nothing i'm afraid. looks like i shall repair whats already on the bus.

like your thread by the way
