On hols appledore and isle of wight

A few pics of holidays.
1st up went to Skern lodge near appledore, North Devon. Really nice and good price, great for the kids, Westward Ho! is perfect for water activities, surfing etc. Skern do some activities which we took up, Kyacking and surfing lessons for the kids.



6 1/2 hours drive was a bit of a killer.

Now in/on the Isle of Wight, just me and the Mrs, staying at a nice site called Ninham Park. Stayed overnight at a pub near Portsmouth called the red lion (save doing the second drive in one hit), found it on search 4sites .
If you do decide to go across to the Isle of Wight ask the campsite to book your ferry, they get 35% discount .
Nice facilities and very clean.


We use the ' normal' drive away when it's just the 2 of us.
Bacon courgette chilli garlic pasta tonight cooked on the petrol Coleman.
Off to the Needles tomorrow, Osborne House next Monday.

Chatting to a guy yesterday who wanted pics of the van. He told me he's here for the annual vfm scooter festival.
Turns out this weekend is a huge scooter festival, biggest in Europe, so expecting to see a few (thousand) of them... Music: the beat are playing live tonight.
They're (scooters) everywhere, Sunday is the big drive out so we've changed some plans to watch.

Finished up the isle of wight, well worth a visit if you can, Osbourne house is a nice visit.



Carisbrook castle nice day out too. King Charles I was held there after the little civil war we had and the monarchy was booted out.

The camper did great until...


30 miles from home on the M25 suddenly the engines revving it's nuts off but no power. We coasted into the hard shoulder and got home via GEM recovery.
The auto 010 gearbox has to come out to investigate but what a bum.

Still, better at the end than at the start and home safe with some nice memories, looks like I have my next project

Instant failure with no warning. No fluid loss. No gears fwd or reverse.
