Just quick thread to ascertain what other main type 2-biased forums people use other than Vzi and KamperChat ?

Is there a third main one after these two ?? (is it EarlyBay !)

I've had a look around but nothing fits the bill, can be a bit clicky.

Good people, great mix of info and banter :D

EarlyBay rocks 8)

EarlyBay is my life - the title says it all...

I also check the Technical forum on (J)Kamperchat if things are a bit slow here (not very often).

I think that many that use this forum love it and see it as their fave - although some do have club forums on a small scale that they use to keep in touch with people they know...

;)

I used KC for a bit a while ago but then I found Earlybay and never looked back. Great people and focused to what we all drive....earlybay is king.

early bay all the way,was using vzi but if you havent been on there for years you tend to get pushed to one side, still use it for selling and buying and a bit of tec if its slow on hear but thats about it

I contribute from time to time on my club forum...http://vwscotclub.co.uk/forum/

I dip in here from time to time...http://www.type2ireland.org/

Like most folks I lurk on The Samba but haven't found the balls to contribute yet in fear of being hosed down with Agent Orange if I say something out of place. I also lurk on the Restowagen site too.

And I'm in self-imposed exile from JK - there seems to have been an attitude readjustment over there when it comes to mentioning non-JK products which seems somewhat hypocritical when they themselves get plenty of mentions and recommendations on other folks' forums.

I use VZi and JK purely for the for sale sections. Earlybay is the only forum (excluding our club one) which I actually use for chatting on. It's the only forum where the members haven't got their heads shoved right up their own a$$es.

This is exactly my experience as well... we have a few over here (Ireland) type2ireland etc, but they're quite cliquey, and you have to have been around since Sir Tim Bernars-Lee invented the 'Interweb' to get any respect or notice on these forums.

Early bay rawks! best bar none tbh

Yeah I used to lurk on VZi but not realy in the click so you don't feel welcome.

Early bay is the one I pretty much post on regularly myself except for the local club forum and the samba!

i look at Dubtime and JK bout once a week, VZi, Earlybay and VVD i check every day :)

I have a scan through VZI mechanical mostly and our club forum :D

I use our club forum, not as much as I used to now as I've got EB. Also on VZI but rarely post there and for my non VW fix Retrorides 8)

I used JK a lot when I had my last (late) bay. friendly and great for tech info but has a huge membership and so for me is too big, you could post a tech question on there and an hour later it will be 3 pages back because of all the other (often daft) questions posted after you..... :( :( However the fact that you can only talk about Just kampers as a supplier and find your post vetted off if you mention another traders' name is frankly silly and childish, not to mention infuriating! So after a while I got a bit bored with it.

have only glanced at VZI a couple of times , very cliquey.... :( , not for me....

used thesamba.com in the past, very useful for archive stuff like M codes and paint codes etc.

Have to say really enjoying earlybay.com, very friendly, very helpful, and just what the VW scene is all about really, long may it continue

Exactly why I stopped visiting JK as well Carole.

I'm with you there as well - good vibe here.

I still use JK, its like a habit
The control and censorship is doing it no favours though, nor the Rusty Bay Mafia.
Daytime chat on there is a nonsense, and so I bounce around the other pages and post dependant on my mood ;)
Volkszone is usually for just reading, and Mart.
The Samba is pretty rubbish on the Bay Windows forum. I did use Volkswagen Camper but its waaay too slow moving.

There is a mob here in Aus called http://www.kombiclub.com and is a clone of the Jk site, highly moderated and you better believe what they believe..or else.
Another one full of uselss gibberish is
http://www.aussieveedubbers.com
This was the first VW forum in Australia and got me cruising and travelling all over the country, it has fallen away of late and is a shadow of what it was.
http://www.dsk.com.au is a splitty focused sight but they are a pretty well informed and friendly bunch.

http://www.lowlight.com.au is a similar site to this one and started up almost at the same time. I am invovled with that on the admin side so I am a bit biased, but we are trying to build up a group of users who are free to comment on whatever they feel. We are trying not to be too focused towards one or a limited amount of traders or repairers.
We are wary of becoming a shrine to just one or two pofessionals like a lot of forums hve become (not here though). Even in a place as spread out as Australia, the VW bus scene is quite small and doesn't involve a huge amount of people.

I'm really surprised at that. I thought the place would be crawling with excellent rust free buses. I guess a large majority of Oz buses are in, or are on their way to the UK and Europe?

Yep there are a lot of Australian buses that have emigrated, it couses quite a ruction with some of the volk down here. I'm not too fussed though, it is a market force sort of thing and IMO. We import some too so it would be hypocritical to want it all one way. I have met 3 blokes from the UK in the last year or so who haved moved here and brought their buses with them.
Maybe the tide has turned.
I have noticed the price of Campers (pop tops to you) has gone through the roof in the last couple of years. Bay windows that were selling for under 5kaud are now nearer 10 so people are waking up to the VW thing I think.
