Just lately my bay (fitted with a Weber Progressive) has just started to over idle. It starts great, runs good but when pulling up at a set of lights or sat at a junction the engine is running (steadily) but at about 1500+RPM. Its not to much of a problem and doesn't affect the performance but its starting to do my head in.
Its only started happening just recently, i have had a look at it on the drive and its almost like the accelerator cable is not fully retracting or the return spring has become weak,if i manually force the linkage back then it returns to what i consider normal idling revs so i dont think its the jetting of the carb.
Anything i should be checking?

try disconnecting the cable from carb linkage ,work the linkage and see if it still sticks .... maybe the cable is starting to seize or the pedal linkage under feet has some road salt or grime stopping it returning fully ?

All sorted now.
When i removed the carb to do the alternator swap i must of fitted the return spring mount slightly out of alignment  noticed that it was almost stopping the spring from fully retracting (closing the accelerator flap), undone the mounthing bracket moved it and re-tightened hey presto normal revs when idling.
I like easy solutions 8) 8)
