I've got my steel fornt and rear bumpers I took off my van when I replaced them with a set of no more rusty bits ones.

The front is complete complete with overirders and side steps, the rear is the rear.

Both have seen there fair or action.

I am having a bit of a clear out, what are these worth? I dont want to pull someones trousers down over them but by the same token I dont want to give them away.

Any ideas? Apart from a bag of sweats which someone is bound to suggest

Thanks in advance :)

They are worth what someone will give you for them.

TOP WHACK is:

Rear £150 or so,

proper early bay rears are hard to get and often busses come over from the states without them,

Front £130 or so,

Most busses have front when shipped so less demand hence the slightly lower price.

I could be worng am just having an inteligent guess.

:D  I don't know how much the bumpers are worth but ive seen the overiders going for £50-£100 a pair on Ebay

I wont mention that I got a Steel Front Bumper including mounts and OG Deluxe trims off VZi for £50 delivered! :D

Guy found it when he was clearing his dads garage!

However I do think I got a bargain - and it was worth a little more :msn4:

In that case I might have been a bit conserative!

Thats ok Alex the more I get the more I will be spending with you as I have a list as long as my arm for my resto (the mirrors were just a start...) :)

They seem to be getting increasingly rare, which I guess is no surprise - I don't really want patina, but all the ones I've seen need dents pushing out as well as reprinting. I was at Schofields last week - they had a shot blasted one which needed fettling and he reckoned he'd get an easy £80. I ended up buying a new slash cut one.

I've been watching a few eBay auctions for rears - I reckon they're going for upwards of £100 and, from what I remember, they had more then just patina.

I'm always a bit surprised by what things go for on eBay - some bike stuff fetches more secondhand than brand new - and thats not because of history!

Could I have some close ups of that Rear please J, as mine is for a split!
Might be interested at the right price. ;)

Paul.

Sorry Paul, might just have fooked your chances of 'the right price'

I'm always surprised by how much some VW stuff is worth. I have original bumpers with overriders with just a little surface rust. If you'd asked me how much I thought they are worth I'd have said £50 or so.
Likewise I had no idea a full length middle bench seat was worth so much.

I really must stop throwing stuff away. (My original cab rubber floor mat)

Dude, I'm desperately looking for a white rear patina'ed bumper.
I have a cream rear patinaed bumper.
Would you be interested in a trade if I arrange for delivery/collection and a few quid for a pint or two?

Hello mate, to be honest I just want someone to take the pair off my hands. If someone else wants the front and someone wants a cream rear then perhaps there is something to be done.

But for now if someone wants them both for a reasonable price then they can have them. I've already given first dibs to someone and I think I have an inkling how much they realistically worth now.

J.

Ok. If someone is looking for a pair of solid bumpers to repaint I will do a deal with my cream one for your white one!

For a really good straight pair of bumpers (like yours seem to be!) then I'd expect to pay strong money for them.. good straight bumpers that are ratty (unrestored) are getting more rare by the day....

As a guide, I bought and sold rear bumpers last year for 90 quid on both occasions, one was straight but stripped of paint, the other was patina'd but not quite as straight as yours... (see the one fitted to the back of my bus now)

If that's all they go for they can stay in the roof of my garage and I will hang onto them. That's solved that then, sorry everyone.

J.
