Hello all, i have a little problem with my rear wheels and i was wondering if anyone on here had experienced anything like it, perhaps its normal? I have started to here a rubbing noise when turning corners which i have identifyed as the drums rubbing on the backing plates. I have had the wheels off and i cannot feel much play when you pull the drums from side to side, in fact, its virtualy zero play. But when i grab the drums and pull them in and out (in the direction of the driveshafts) there is quite alot of play, about 0.5mm N/S and 1mm play O/S. There is no bearing type noises. Van is a crossover (72) bay with the later type rear brakes (the drums can be removed with the hub not still on). Could my hubnuts need tightening? Do i need new bearings?

id check the spacer between the inner and outer bearings for wear ,
check the circlips are all located correctly holding the bearings.
also you should have a roller bearing as your outer bearing
and a ball bearing as your inner .
(not two rollers as i had in one of my vans which had the same problem)
hope this helps you out ...

:D
