Pothole on the M4

My dear friend hit a 6 inch pothole on the M4 on the way to Bristol Volksfest yesterday afternoon Luckily his Mrs and the 5 teenagers in the back were ok, his bus is going to need hospitalisation though ......

The pot hole sheered off the ball joint so he lost the nearside wheel, its a left hooker and was wanting to go left onto the hard shoulder but there was a 20 foot drop down there, he was doing 60mph so didn't brake as he thought it would roll. It took him a mile and a half to slow down veering all over 3 lanes of the M4 :shock: Luckily most of the traffic realised something was happening and put their hazards on but an old fella in a zafira went into the back which spun him into the central reservation.

Then another people carrier went into one of them, 7 people in that too so they were sooo incredibly lucky.

So no they didn't go back and get photos of the pot hole but the AA man said it was notorious and had been there 3 weeks! They knew about it and avoided it but apparently it had been badly repaired and opened up again. The copper who dealt with it was at the end of his shift and was going to have a look in the morning, needless to say he was not impressed with that!

So if you were held up on the M4 yesterday about 3pm around junction 12 sh, that was the reason.

Been to see them this morning and they are a bit shocked but ok I donated all the parts I have to help get Bob back on the road

Unbelievable how nobody was hurt....hope all gets sorted...

I know how he feels, he'll be distraught but thankfully no one was hurt.

Holy crap, that must of been very very scary! Glad all are well. Looking at the damage, it looks repairable. Good luck.

Poxy potholes in this country are a joke! My dad ripped the sump off his car , luckily he got photos and the council paid out, the car was a write off though as he drove a mile or so with no sump!! The repairs carried out are a joke aswell! My road had loads of potholes last week but now has loads of repairs that are more like speed bumps!

Glad everyone was ok, looks real nasty.

jeepers, I bet that was one scary experience, just a passenger waiting for it to come to a stop. Good to hear everyone was ok no physical damage to people.
Lets hope they get the evidence of the pot hole and get some kind of compo

cheapo repairs from the Highways Agency not the council.. motorways are supposed to be maintained to a far high quality exactly so this doesnt happen and local councils are not allowed near them!

The state of the roads at the mo is diabolical - the fecking money we pay in taxes and yet they put peoples lives at risk by not maintaining them to a proper standard!!
