Hi guys

Im installing an electrical hook up system in the van for a college project ( which is fairly good, as I can get them to pick up some of the cost  ), but ive been doing alot of research and currently don;t know what power distribution unit to go for.

As far as i'm aware, the ZIG CF8 and CF9 and pretty much the same, but a fridge can be run from the CF9, however, the ZIG units required an extra RCD and fuse box to be able to run 240V devices when a 240V supply is availabe. But they do include a split charge relay.

The PMS3 unit already has this extra 240V device protection, but does not include a split charge relay as the ZIG units do, but you can buy a seperate spliut charge relay.

So the question is, what are you lot using? has anyone any experience with the ZIG CF8, CF9, or the PMS3?

Thanks in advance!! :D

so does the CF8 automatically chose which battery to charge? and does it prevent over charging?
So you can run 12V devices with or without a hook up, from the battery and when hook up is available, and 240V devices only when a hook up is avaialble?or have you incorporated an inverter also?

cheers for quick reply.

Hi,

Just to contrast this - I built my leisure setup using separate components - so a 3 stage charge, invertor, 3 fusebox's (back, middle and front) and a 240 hookup with RCD and a hardwired twin socket

Not as compact as a Zig unit but cheaper and allows me to replace/upgrade components as I go along - as it is I removed the inverter as it chews batteries (inefficient) and only use 240v on hookup

Would prefer a unit but for the cost I couldn't justify it personally
