Hi People

I have a problem - am in a camp site in france, my window winder has decided to break. It goes down fine but won't go up. I have tried the other handle and that makes no difference, when winding up it isn't catching, just clack clack clack. It's 8.40 in the evening here and I have a baby who is itching to go to bed - this is the initial problem. The wiser one is we won;t be able to park the van anywhere and go for days out with an open window. Currebtly the door card is of but can't see any od the moving parts even to just get it shut.

Your advise is most welsome - thank god for wi-fi ... we are in the a way away from anywhwere!

Cheers!

Lawrence

Could you not remove the glass from the runner, then push it up into closed position and wedge with a couple of bits of wood?

Not ideal I know, but maybe a temporary solution.

good luck bud.

As said, undo the 2 10mm bolts and wedge something from the underside to hold it up (stick, folded cardboard etc).

Good luck

Thanks for the advise. We will soldier on and work something out. Does anyone know what the actual problem is? We are day 2 into a two week holiday - I might be able to find somewhere to get the required parts and a garage.

sounds like the winder mech has chewed itself up. a common problem the inside is like a wound wire but it strips off in the end.
if you pop the door panel and let the missus wind the winder handle while you force the glass up it should catch enough to go to the top of the door. it wont fix it but it will hold the glass up then its a case of finding a new winder mech
good luck fella

Glad you got it sorted chap! nice MOD it nay catch on ;)

Wow, it looks amazing there and I'm glad the simple mod did the job for the time being.

If you haven't already been, take a trip to Lac d'Annecy. It is one of our favourite places and is not far from where you are, it mixes the old and the new.
