Hi All,
I've fitted a Weber to my 1641 and am hoping to bung it back in in the very near future, however..

as it sits on the bench the top of the air filter (and therefore the carb) isn't plumb level with the rest of the engine. It's only maybe a couple of degrees out, but as I see it this shouldn't be possible since this is all dictated by the manifold ends being level.

Is this likely to be an issue or should I stop whining and put the bloody thing back in and drive it???
Ta,

You can adjust it if you like.Loosen the manifold boots. You should have a bracket going from carb to the fuel pump, just space this out with washers as needed.

Check your inlet manifold ends are properly fitted then,I found that you have to fit the carb inlet but leave it loose on the manifold ends and leave the bracket off. Also loosen the inlet manifolds from the head, make sure there is movement where the inlet enters the manifold ends ,slide the rubber boots back for now.

Also prior to all of this check the manifold ends and heads for dowels. You can't fit a dowel in a bit that doesn't have a hole,if this is the case then remove the dowel. Some heads and some manifold ends have the facility for a dowel and some don't.

First tighten the manifold ends to the head, then centre the carb manifold in the ends and fit the bracket and secure it .Then slide the rubber boots and tighten them.

I tightened the manifold ends to the heads last before and it caused a big air leak where it wasn't tightening down and sealing fully. So do it in the above order and it may work for you.

just about to fit one of these myself and not sure where the bracket/s go, it obviously needs some support, can anyone post a pic up or any info please.

There should be a bracket which is a straight flat piece of metal which has a 90 degree bend in each end with a hole in each end.You remove a nut from the fuel pump and one from the nearest left hand side carb securing nuts. The bracket secures between the fuel pump and the carb manifold then you put the nuts back on.It would be easy to make one if you don't have one.

The bracket is pictured here,I can't find a picture with it fitted though.

Hope this helps

right next problem, do I need the linkage adaptor as the cable is a strange angle from the throttle connector ? Did I read somewhere you need this to obtain full throttle aswell?

Thanks
Andy

Yeah you would benefit from the adapter but most places sell them so its not to hard to get.
To get full throttle i had to play with the linkages as mine were slightly worn but its all good now
