I had a man with a saw come today & make me some units. I am pretty chuffed with the result.

I need to strip the unit apart now & paint it. I am going to colour code it in L87D Pearl white. Hopefully it will look good with the wood floor & wood work top. It's not 100% finished but will be when it's painted & reinstalled.

I have had the rear seats trimmed in leather now too. It's gonna look sweet. The front seats are away being done too...

I will have to put the door handles on once it's all painted.

WHS /\ /\ /\
Looks very nice, i'm planning something along these lines only i think my saw is slighty bent after my practice run making a R&R bed (i bought one in the end and sold the hinges)

I have scored an EFI setup from a 2006 bay window engine. I am gonna fit it with a wide band lambda sensor & megasquirt brain.

I have a Garret T3 turbo & charge cooler too. The latter is gonna be a bit of a game to fit.

I wanna change the gearbox for a 2.0L one & maybe change the wheels for Fuchs.

I have gone a bit mad on it this week, but if I am gonna keep it, it might as well be the dogs!

Watch this space & see what happens. I need to sell a 1303 I have to free up some more cash too.

Cheers,
I have just got back in from the garage. It is all back out again & all of the screw holes have been filled. I will have a go at spraying it tomorrow.

I got some white paint on it today. It is a bit too awkward to paint the inside of the cabinets with the big spray gun. I have to knock up some more paint to do the front of the cupboard doors, so might have a go with the smaller gun.

Another option is to get some brush paint knocked up & hand paint the inside of the units. The bit that is seen most should end up looking good enough.

I will get some more pics up when its done in a couple of days.

Looks really neat, love the sink and cooker unit, really goes well, where did you get it from if you dont mind me asking.

It is a Smev combo unit, I bought it second hand but unused.

Google Smev & you will see...

Ok, it's nearly done. It's all back in now & painted. I still need to trim the edge of the work top. The sink & hob still need plumbing in too.

The front seats are back from being trimmed in leather too. They look sweet. I bought some under seat rubber mats from Justin at C&C today too.

I need to make a buddy seat at some point too. At least I can drive it if I want to.

What did you make the interior out of?
I'm considering something along the same lines but not sure what wood to use and as i have (hopefully) just booked up to go camping inthe van in May then i need to get started sooner rather than later

I had it made from 18mm MDF.

There are good & points to this stuff. It's cheap & easy to work with.

It was a sod to paint. The paint soaks into it so a few coats are needed. The paint doesn't build up on the edges, it just soaks in. - If I did another, I think I would use a weak PVA glue & water solution. That should seal all of it & make it a better finish. the other thing is it is quite heavy.

Other options are to use a thinner hard would. That could still be painted if needed. I went for wood floor & wood work top, so didn't want wood cabinets too.

If or when you see it, you can tell it's far from perfect. If you were to make all of it yourself though it would be quite cheap to do.

The portable gas stoves are wicked as well, they are so cheap, light weight & can be carried into an awning or even outside. My hard wired one means I have to cook in the van no matter what. Heat & smell might not be so good.

There are plenty of ways it can be done, there must be loads of people on here that have made their own interior.

Like Pete says MDF is great to work with but its fairly porous. You can get primer specially for MDF which will save you lots of painting and remember the edges are the most vulnarable and should be coated in pva, sanded and coated again, if water gets in, it will blow and its as good as had it.
Looks damn good when its done though

I have made a buddy seat today. It has to hide a 15" sub, but still have a bit of storage.
It looks like this at the mo:

The new buddy seat is nearly done.

I have made a trim panel from the unused door card from behind the cupboard unit. It looks a hell of a lot better now. I am going to make one for the other side and a couple for 2 other areas of the main unit. I want to paint the edges one last time too.
