I'm seriously considering implementing my 'Justin & Mutley Gulf Racing Plan' (see below) - my question is...
Is it possible to specify Matt finish auto paint? I want that old-skool 'it's been around for ages' look, and I know that I want VW Gulf Orange & VW Gulf Blue - can i get these colours in matt finish?

cheers Dudes

P.S. - Is it going to look ridiculous? (I'm asking this particular question on my wife's behalf!)

;)

that colour scheme looks cool dude...liking the stickers as well.

you can add matting agent, my girlfriends bug is satin black which is gloss black with 20% matting agent, matt is more like 30 - 35% matting agent.
bear in mind that painting satin or matt is harder than gloss as you cannot polish out any runs.
cool paint scheme tho!

You can get one of these funky little puppies to do the pinstripe between the colours.

I used one on my old bug to do the orange line...

Go for it Justin, They are great old school colours and besides it's your ride so it is yours to enjoy.
After saying that I'll be cheeky and ask.
Where is the step?
I think you need a bigger rack, that one looks a bit lonely all on it's own up the front.
I realise the step will be a bit low with that stance, but that's not the point is it?
P.S.
A little tip for the Pegasus on the door. if you "flip" the image in paint he won't be flying against the wind.

My brother owns a bodyshop! I'm quite lucky actually as I get to do all the work on my van down there!

I'm pretty sure you can do any colour in matt. I was talking to one of his lads about it as wanted to do the mk1 like that style.

As long as you stick to a style and compliment it it will never look stupid, I think you have done a good job.

It will look great!

go with racing harnesses, and you could have one of the nascar style window nets made but have it behind the cab seats like a divider!
matching racing helmets and overalls!

All you need now is a GT40 Golf and you can be its support van :D the more and more I look at it the more i love it :D

Likey Likey - and yes you can get matt paint to spray, but if not in your colour, like SK says, add a matting agent.

Don't forget the roof spoiler to keep it on the ground when it's painted as that colour scheme
will easily give an extra 20 to 40 MPH onto the top whack

J&M...
from the lads down under... we love it. its ur bus
about the matt finish. check (dsk) huge post on this subject
matty

I would go for a gloss finish if it was me. Matt paint is very hard to clean. If you get bird poo or a light scratch it is hard to get it out.

The gloss finish will repel water, grud & crap & leave your time consuming, expensive & rather nice design looking good for years to come.

I would feer ypur hard work would be looking a bit sad after a good show season.

Ask yourself why all cars use gloss paint & the polish industry had 1000's of products...

just my penny's worth.
