Hello, I'm sure someone out there must know how to approximate a date for these.

I got this a couple of months back on ebay the guy has a few in stock all the time and after seeing them at the shows he knocks them out at a good price, really like the patina and genuine age to it.

He wasnt overly sure on the age but recon one of our geniuses  out there should offer some help, going on style, graphics etc.... :D :D

So useful beer carrying, Cider carrying, kiddie carrying, 1001 uses every van should have one :D

they are hard to date as they've been around so long - part of american culture since the 50's/60's - if you look around now, you'll see them everywhere in contemporary US culture. a couple of dj's are currently using them in promo pictures

the current graphics are very retro, but they did update them in the 80's, and then reverted back to the retro look

I have a non retro style graphics on my wagen, which I'm guessing is 80's, so yours could either be earlier or later

no decent pics of mine I'm afraid, you can barely make out the flyer on here...

That doesn't actually look like a radio flyer to me. The wheels don't seem right and the graphic is in perfect condition which is surprising as the rest is so marked up. It the graphic screen printed or stuck on?

The graphics arent that clean up close but they are good they not stuck on and the wheels are the real thing.
The interior is red leaded, the markings are paint off the edges with surface rust and cement splash across the sides and greasy fingerprints all over after reassembling the thing, I tefloned the axles and inside the wheels when I got back off the beach.

Looks pretty much exactly like mine, including the internal repait.
The number on mine is '89' so I assumed it was 1989 ... I could be wrong though? It was from Wayne at Volksheaven, so I reckon a genuine ex-US model.

At Pomona they sell for like $15 a go in that condition. I couldnt justify the space in the car for the rest of the road trip, and theyd be a pain to ship, else Id have grabbed a couple ....

89 is the model features extra long handle, body 2" shorter 2"narrower though .5" deeper.
mine 18 is the oldest version unchanged in 70 years apart from the wheels.
The logo of the kid in a wagon was introduced in 1967 (golden anniversary) these wheels came into being from the early 60s (and are still produced/used)prior to that they were more contoured with larger silver hub caps.

 Aaron is Flyer-Geek!

Heres mine (i mean, my daughters) ..

It came from the states and was NOS and still boxed and un built when i got it. It was bought in 1969 from Sears (still got the label, price, date etc on the box). Apparently the bloke bought one for his son and put one in the attic, which he sold to me 36 years later.

This is the "space age" type writing and not seen so often as it dosent look as retro as the original style writing. I was told the hardest ones to find are Blue ones with the space writing on.................... Ive only seen one.

Like gadjet says they are abit last year i think but great for taking your heavy "Retro Coolers" around when full of beer.

Very nice I would love to get my hands on the Evel Kinevel version from the seventies, Yellow with fat arse mag wheels on the rear and mag skinnies on the front dragster body and roll bars called the Fireball 2001 with Hot Wheels style flames....Very 70s' 8)

Sod my son racing it down the hill, I'd squeeze my fat arse in it

You say the writing doesn't look to old, but the font was designed in the 20's or a little before not sure of the date but i know it was around then.

Am I really that geeky....hehehe
