Hi... hoping for some help....

Just taken the 'winter' cover off my 1971 crossover, a late start to the year!... and can't open the rear door....

Key enters and turns the lock, but either way, with the button pressed, the door won't open. Tried whilst pressing the button, gentle leverage in up, left right direction of the door (using big screwdriver between door and frame) but damaging both door and the surround.

What can I (or should I?) do.... thought about drilling the lock out, but would that help, or indeed can another lock be purchased.....

Any assistance appreciated....

Regards,

Denys

Do you mean the upper rear hatch? (as opposed to the engine lid?)

Can you not go inside behind it, remove the interior panel and access the mechanism from that side? I can't remember how it works, but it should be possible to release it from inside. :)

I had the same issue, if you take off the cover you can open the hatch by lifting up the 90 degree bar ( I did it with a screw driver to get some leverage , it should pop open.

Yes I do mean the upper hatch.... thanks guys sounds sensible,advice..... will have a go this afternoon.... I'm hoping the 'Devon' drawer and bed unit doesn't obstruct....

Get some Dw 40 in there maybe the lock barrel is sticky I poke the red straw in mine and just let rip 40 years of crud come pouring out
