First sorry for my bad english, thats because i'm danish... :)

I'm restoring a 72 crossover, which is now back from the painters.
I've found a new rear hatch(right word?) but when mounting it, it sits ca 4 cm to low. This results in the hatch not beeing able to get shot.. Yes i know trial fitting before paint would have saved me..

And now the? is there a diffence in the hinges form early to late bay???

Hope you understand what I mean.

Lars from Denmark

Not the first time I've seen this :(
Hinges are the same, its the bolt holes on the hatch that are different, crossover rear hatch are one of many unusual one-offs

But what to do then?

Does early hinges fit, so the hatch ends up right, or does I need late hinges, or.....

Its the answer you don't want to hear :( its a '72 hatch you need
I hope you kept the lock mechanism from the original door as this is a '72 only fitting ( others have fitted latebay mech/lock to '72 only hatch , but it did not work for me)

I'll take a pic of my '72 hatch when I get home , you will then see the difference

Measured from top edge of hatch...
9.8cm to 1st bolt hole then + 6cm to 2nd
