Batley, it's God awful!
Hi Guys,
Next job on my agenda is to remove and try and restore my quarter lights as the steel frames are rusting/rotting so i want to try and get them out so i can try and weld them up and get some paint on them. I wonder if anyone had done this what looks like a 'bugger' of a job and has some idiot guide/photos?

It would be good to have it in the Technical guide methinks, failing this i shall have a go and remember to get some photos

Cheers :D

The battle to save my quarter lights and my wallet! First plus been a California import from Glendale near Hollywood the body is rock solid, shame I can't say the same for the metal frames. So tomorrow I will drill out the rivets split them down and see if they salvageable? Failing that another huge expense X 3 for some new frames anyone know where the best place to get some - who have 'em in stock?

It is a pain in the ass for sure, I made a good one out of 3 in the end! Once apart I masked the glass and sprayed the surround and sprayed the frame, then the fun begins, getting the rubber on the frame and the window in the rubber!!! It's all good fun not!

Once that's done its equally difficult to get the damn thing to sit close enough to the van window frame when trying to fit the non-opening part of the window! A friend who don't mind hitting glass hard helps!

I think there are some pics in my build thread (if you can be bothered to look as it's quite long :msn4: )

Ah the joy, the joy - so first one out and stripped down - yep a preal pain in the ass! As you can see its a bit crusty so the next question is as anyone got any donor bit so I can use the profile and stick in a good bit?? Pleassssssssssssssseeeee :party0021:

No.1 of 3

Try looking for some at dub freeze, alternatively, I know i've seen the frames for sale on one of the big guys sites, JK, Schofields, C&C maybe.

Just had a little google moment, its Heritage, Alli ones, never rot again...

Have you got deep pockets?

I don't have even shallow pockets unfortunately  I must remember to buy a lottery ticket! Just wondering if you can help they seem to sell the Ally curved bit of the frame but do you know if anyone sells the upright piece that rivets to the curved bit if that makes sense - strange they would go to the trouble of making the curved bit but when you look at the upright bit the profile has some tight curves so maybe that isn't so easy to manufacture??

Seems a bit pointless buying one without the other?

I guess its because the straight bit usually survives the rust...

Put an add up and see who replys
