hia, i changed my rear wheel bearings today with good bearings no ****** ones. but after whacking up to the right torque, i still have a small amount of play? there is no wear on the shaft or in the bearing housing.. the spacer is new.. ive measured everything with a verynear and its all bang on.. help ( the very very small amount of play/give in the bearings when exagerated by the wheel diameter is the play i have) any ideas please... :?

Not unusual. First one I took to the mot place I use failed it on rear bearings. I changed them to keep them quiet and they were no different because there is supposed to be some play. I forget the figure but I think the spec for play at the rim is in most manuals. They don't fail them now.

thats good news. A weight off my mind!!!! (which is also an expensive bugger as it means they didnt need changing in the 1st place)

Because of the way the bearings and spacer fit there is no adjustment unlike the front, therefore any play unless the bearings are a loose fit, should be within the bearing itself and hopefully within spec.:)

Recently changed my rear wheel bearings this is what they looked like, broken cages, rollers every where.
No play now :D
