Hi all

After taking engine out to do new fuel lines... I started tinkering and ended up taking the heads off....

Anyway, glad I did as one is shot http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=53460" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ! I'm now looking at a top end rebuild, or replacement engine. There was very little endfloat so I'm leaving the bottom end alone. My unit is a late 70s Mexican number- is it worth rebuilding or would people just go for a replacement. If a replacement- who are the good guys to get one off? I like rebuilding the engines, but sometimes economics get in the way...

What would you do?

no point in throwing money away.
check the ring gaps, hone the cylinders if they need it, replace the heads.
Make sure you tighten the heads down a little over to test the threads- could be that you'll need to fit a helicoil or two if it's started pulling the head studs out.
