Seems that i get through a pressure washer a year. I have tried going for slightly more expensive ones (i.e. circa £150-160) and the karcher £50 specials and none last.

I would love a kranzle washer but cant justify £430 for one.

Any other recommendations?

Stay away from Halfords own brand, i have the 2800, the flagship and the hose connecting the gun to the washer is utter crap. Its stiff and constantly tangling up on itself. I spend more time fighting it than cleaning the daily. Not worth the hassle.

I tend to go with the dirty car style. I let the kids loose on it with a gritty sponge and fairy liquid twice a year, if they are lucky. Okay maybe not the fairy liquid but the cheapest car wash liquid I can find then hose the bastard down and leave it to air dry, streaks n' all

I used to get fussy about washing my car, using a Karcher pressure washer that outlasted the lance, foam this n' that, chocolate smelly wax but in the end I'd rather spend my time on something else. My car washing also used to coincide with a downpour much to the wifes amusement.

There is no way in hell I will let my kids clean my car :)

I still enjoy cleaning my cars and I am more than happy to spend the time doing it... I am sure priorites might change but I am 40 now and I still like doing it. I dont let it get in the way of family stuff though but an hour for cleaning my car on the weekend gives them a break from me as well...

Save the money and use it down at the local Lithuanian/Polish/european hand wash gang. They always do a better job than I can manage.

My collegue in work caught the next door neighbours kid washing his car with a brick, needless to say the damage had been done. He lives in a rough area.

Avoid newer Karcher washers as the pumps are made from plastic.

Look for a Nilfisk as they are still made from proper stuff, think machine mart has some on special at the moment buy keep an eye on ebay as i got mine on there with some light outer casing damage and it was around 60% cheaper and works perfect
