Tonight I'm going to have a go at removing the glue that was used to stick the insulation to the roof of my van, I'm looking for tips and products that have been used, any one got any handy tips?

Thanks

Mark

And when you find out,,,,,,,,,,, pleeeeease let me know as I`ll be starting that malarky soon. :lol: .

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, getting ready for a Stella onslaught :lol: :roll: :lol:

Standard Cellulose Thinners or Tar and Glue Remover (a man's one from a motor factors, not a crappy betterware one) and LOTS AND LOTS OF VENTILATION!

Stripped the glue out of a bay in a freezing cold workshop years ago, we put a tarp over the bay i was working on and a split that was getting some work done, got some electric fires (as thats all we had to hand) and used celly thinners. Was alright til I tried to stand up :lol:

lol sounds like fun, I had a go tonight with meths, its was working but was a pain in the ass, I think I may leave it there.

I think meths and panel wipe will be a bit too soft for the glue, think you need to go slightly more aggressive. Works well if you use a dish scouring pad to rub the tar and glue in with.

I'll give the thinners a go then. I'm guessing you can get this from a local motor factor/paint suppliers?

Thanks

Mark

I'd go for some petrol, used it to remove sign writing glue in the past and panel wipe, works a treat. Try it on a discrete area first mind.

meth evaporates too quickly, i used a big paintbrush with thinners to get a lot on, then left it to soak for a while.took it off with a plastic scraper when soft,then did it again to get the remains off,wiping with a rag.

Can't remember this is detail but any product of crude oil will be removed by the next product up in the refining process, so petrol which is near the top removes bitumen which is near the bottom :)

But this stuff really works..... http://www.groovycart.co.uk/cart.php?c=364&p=16194&a=138850" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
