not necessarily from jk but i've heard that they dont fit too well. its either these or get my own floor made

Fitted them in mine had to convert from LHD to fit RHD.Think the're made from krapite they've bent between top hat sections.Should have repaired instead of replacing.

Might be worth checking if the splitty floor has the same corrugation.
I've heard they stamp them out of much thicker steel.
 
i thought schofield sold long plain sections with the correct profile of the floor ridges? perfect for cutting out for repairs?

they do johnny, but the trouble is the edges are shot pretty much all of the way around.

the trouble with making my own is not being able to press that profile. therefore, if i opt to just use flat with small strengthening pressings i'll lose the height of the original profile and it will be low around the edges. one alternative would be to put a stp on top of the top hats to gain this loss or lust have a shagpile carpet and have loads of cushioning under foot :)
 
is the original profile folded/shaped or much heavier gauge? why/how is the height being lost?
 
i think the floor is made out of 2-3mm. if you imagine the wave as a series of peaks and troughs, then the troughs are welded to the top of the tophats. the profile is of such shape that the edge of the floor is located at a peak. therefore, the height that i am talking about that you will lose if the distance between the peak and the trough.

if I were to make the floor out of flat plate it would mean that either the plate would sit on the tophats and be low around the edges, or it would be flush with the edges and not sit on the tophats. thats why i mentioned about making the tophats slightly higher to accomodate for this difference.

I would'nt go down the flat plate route due to strength considerations.
My van pre complete strip down had a flat plate floor and you could feel the van twist when
dropping off kerbs etc.

I've been after a complete floor for mine for ages, Status VW were supposed to be tooling
up for good thick RHD floor sections, buy they only seem to offer genuine LHD at the mo.

I've heard the JK ones are abosolute crap, as Steve said they bend in the middle of the top hats
etc even when fully welded.

That's why I mentioned the splitty route, they are made from good thick steel but would need modification to get them to fit. But at least they would have the corrugation to flat (If you know what I mean).
 
i did think about the strength that the corragated floor would give to the overall rigidity of the van.

i always presume that JK stuff is, how should i put it... budget!! i only linked it above because schofields site is being redone :) i was wondering whether putting a round bar in a press would do the trick. i would have to take the plate out every press and turn the metal over to keep it from bending, but not sure how level it would stay. a dare say thats why the floor was originally made in two halves.
 
a small order from schofields arrived today and with it was a brochure. they do floors for both RHD and LHD

LHD from £155.00 pair

RHD from £188.00 pair.

i think i'll give them a phone up in the morning and see how much work, if any needs to be done for it to fit, and how much thinner it is from the original. think i will have to try and organise a collection from a show if i get a floor from someone

OK, so i spoke to Schofields this evening and they informed me that the LHD is £160 and the RHD is £210.

bear in mind that the RHD panel is infact a converted LHD. what schofields will do for £50 is to modify the LHD panel accoringly:

the only difference is the sliding door. the sliding door side is cut down to fit the RHD sliding door, and the other side is required to be extended slightly. they will cut the sliding door side for you, and will provide you with the necessary extension for the other side, however, they mentioned that it would be best if i were to weld this on myself so i get the correct amount of extension.
