Hi Guys,

Ripped the interior out of my '71 before christmas, only to discover how much it leaks. Its time to get the old girl sorted properly. Apparently the local garage I take it to cant get hold of the required guttering/roof sections.

Can anyone advise me on any VW restoration garages in the SW. Im based in plymouth and have found 2; Dubmonkeys in Oakhampton, and Smiths in wadebridge. Any one had any work carried out by either, or any recommendations for me.

smiths of cornwall are awesome....schofields don`t send all their busses there for repairs for no reason and he`s a top bloke to boot.Very honest, hard working and straight to the point...as a side note i have an early bay rear roof section, front section and gutters if that would help
Forgot to add autostyl in chacewater near truro...also extremely good

Thanks for your reply, I saw the pictures on the website. The buses did look very good on there. I may have to take you up on your offer, depending on what they say.

Is that you on the corner? I have seen your van there a couple of times on my travels.
yes thats mine sometimes you may see my brothers t25 panel in the same place. i prefer aircooled but fair play his bus got us to ebi1 and back with no drama and it was one of the first trips it made if you see either of us come and say hi its good to put faces to names.

Schofields send some stuff to Matt because he did his apprentiship with them and still works the shows for them on the stall. His paint work is very good his metal is ok. Evil ben is the body guru down here i think. Trailer queen restos also get a very good name but with all the above a good reputation results in a high price, but i expect you get what you pay for.

ben is the man as far as metal goes, but he smells of petuli oil or something..tart  and you`re right gavin at trailer queens certainly can apply a coat of paint better than any i`ve seen so far and also a very nice bloke. Any of the above are local ...ish and are all worthy of your custom...chat to them all and see who you get the right vibe with

Thanks for the replies,
I took the van to Dan Munday yesterday, he said 'you could spend 2 grand on that'
Smiths today said the repairs would be 'not cheap'.
They are both gonna ring me back on Monday with a better idea of price when/if they can get hold of the price.
