i`ve been driving a lhd westy around for a few days. Now anyone who knows me will question what the fuchs i`m doing...well i`ve been weirded out by the spacial awareness thing that goes on when you drive lhd.I`ve destroyed my own myth of visibility is an issue, gear change i got used to after an hour or so and actually prefer it.I`ve been driving in the middle of the road on several occasions but i`m sure i`ll get used to it.
What i really object to and feel i have to share with the world is this:
when at the macdonalds drive through this morning to get my builders breakfast i couldn`t reach the cashier without switching the engine off, leaning over hanging out the window etc etc....surely this alone is proof that rhd is better than lhd. No?

Anything that deters using maccy D's has to be good, surely?

I tend to find parking up, walking in, ordering and walking back is quicker in the Macca D's I've frequented anyway ;)

Or buy one of these :D

perfect excuse to bring a lady friend with you! ;)

ive got 2 leftys and the only time its a bit of a pain can be drive thru petrol stations etc and the stoopid parking ticket machines at car parks!
on the upside it gives you a chance to top up the drivers tan on the left arm :D

I'm LHD and I prefer it to rhd  I find it amusing when I get beeped at by the twunt behind me at the multiple storey carpark ! Occasionally I drop the little yellow disc on purpose to pee him off even more !

Sorry but I'm with Clem here.... WTF go to the golden arches? and why is it necessary to speed up the experience with the drive through option?

Fella you live in a nice part of the country with some cracking beach side earteries, park up and sit outside and eat eddible food that would naturally decompose if left on the roadside, unlike those salt ridden burgers that refuse to rot due to the crap put in them just to give them a flavour ....

Love my RHD...wouldn't have it any other way! LHD is for Americans :D

Flame on! :)

You just need to use the same car parks more often, used to daily a LHD beetle, the car park attendant at the multistorey by where I was working got so used to me getting out and holding up the queue that he just used to trigger the barrier before I even reached it 8)

RHD for me, thats why i got a saffer.

i am a bad enough driver in that, would be carnage on the roads if i sat on the other side ;)

I bought my LHD a few mths ago and had a few nightmares before I picked it up.
You soon get use to it and I find it more fun to drive adds a different diminution to it.
It feels strange getting back in to a RHD car now.
I'm right handed and it feels more natural to have me knob in the right hand, thats the gear change one  ;)

The funny looks my wife gets at traffic lights cos she's sat there with no cares in the world on her phone then they realise she's not driving.

Having driven quite a few LHD & RHD buses I prefer the LHD set up, it actually feels more natural, not sure what it is whether its the position of the gear lever to the steering wheel or what but I've never had a problem and I've owned 4 LHD buses and driven lots more.

Its also great when you venture off our tiny island into Europe, makes trips into Europe a pleasure

LHD for me.
My Westy and Karmman beetle are left hookers and have no problems.
My only small issue is the sliding door opens onto the road ,
not ideal with the kids.
However , being a walk-through they can get out safely :D
Cheers Paul.

Its funny cause there does seen to be a bit of a stigma with LHD, I bought and sold a few VR6s & G60 Golfs back in the day when you could only get them in LHD, and got on with them straight away, my wife drove a 3 series compact for a few years also LHD and she never complained which suprised me at the time, now I dont even think about it until i get in a RHD bus...............that feels strange

Just

When I was looking around, LHD buses were definitely cheaper, and there were more of them about. We were "lucky" enough to find a right hooker, but now I'm paying the price with mega welding! Anyways, all part of the fun...what every tickles yer fancy! :)
