trying to sort out the spring/ summer dates

any brave souls going to rtts from norwich area

hope to get there in the bus but as 3 break downs in last 100 miles, still being positive and getting gears and elecy probs sorted. Cheers paul T2D for trailer ( RAC wouldnt pick us up as too low)

was thinking of getting down to reading the night before and being posh and stopping in a travel lodge , shower etc.

never been down there so we are really looking forward .

see you there

me a nd mrs been talking or rather she been talkin to me.......
anyone done th cruise gone on somewhere else for that weekend?
ie a show in between reading and newquay, if not no probs we will have to go there instead.

cheers again

Its a fair old way from your side of the country. 8)

Its a very loose weekend where you can do what you want, the Show and Shine is on Sunday so the rest of the weekend you can cruise about and do what you fancy, there is usually a show in Plymouth the smae weekend that you could check out? (Plymfest)

It get some bad press but is a good weekend for what it is. Take a few days and see some more of Cornwall at the same time. :)

cheers clem for the advise we will probably do the cruise and stay a night then venture off sumwhere else we are thinking then we can take it at our own snailpace which we like . going to look into the plymouth thing too cheers

thanks again man

youll see us around the scene as our bus is pretty well known, the ex T2d tv bus.

Weirdly I had a feeling you'd bought it from reading some of your other posts... 8)

Or maybe try this one http://www.facebook.com/BIG.SUNDAY.1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or check it out on these events page ;)

Me and the Mrs going to RTTS for the first time this weekend.

Gotta say I thought it was a big event for buses so I am kinda surprised about
the lack of chat about it on the forum.

Anyone else going ??? - would be great to meet up with a few early bayers,

They'll be a lot of vans around the town and area for sure, not just bays but all sorts (lots of T4's I suspect), along with all sorts of modified cars ... its a good weekend, enjoy it 8)
Its lost the hardcore VW show scene crowd following, but there are lots of folk out there with buses just having fun :D

We were down in Watergate Bay and my mate was running a catering van there so we popped in for an hour. I have to say it was crap and I am glad we did not pay good money for the event. It was full of mark 3 golfs with a T2 here and there. There was trouble and rumours of death? Not sure but it know it's not for me

Me and the Mrs managed 3 nights on site at Trevelgue but as Clems says, it has lost the VW following so the weekend was a bit of a let down .

It was good to bump into Jim ( The Last Panzer ) and Rachel at the show and shine on Sunday.
The Show 'n Shine was located at a nearby venue this year - what a joke !!
Some people queued for over 2 hours to get in the gate and nearly as long to get out, and to be honest, not that many buses to get exited about ( 'Phoenix' excepted of course Jim ) ;)

IMO RTTS is OK for 16 - 25 year olds who like T5'S, 'Boy racer' cars with baked bean tins for exhausts and big speakers but not my scene so won't be going again. At least I can say I've been there, done it, and got the T shirt ( well, RTTS hoody anyway !)

I don't want to put other people off , they all looked like they were having the time of their lives . Each to there own..........

I heard that there was a split whereby a load of Vw people went to Torquay instead. According to a mate who was there, everyone was "skanking all night"

I reckon it has moved on again as sparkywig said...

Me and Rach went down for the week, stayed on a sight at Quintrell Downs called the Riverside it was one of the best sites we have been to. It was very clean and tidy with an indoor pool, a shop, a club and all the other normal facilities.

We enjoyed the week very very much and went to loads of different places, however the last time we went to RTTS was about 9 years ago and was jam packed full of OLD Volkswagens having a cruise through the centre with a bit of a water pistol fight and just a general good fun party atmosphere, what we found this time was very different.

There were very very few OLD VW's, the town centre had a volatile atmosphere to it due to all the hen and stag parties. There were a lot of drunk loud mouth chavs in the town ( god i sound old  ), a very strong police presence and most of all not much happy fun atmosphere.

We talked to 2 local people on different occasions and they both said the same thing that they 'hated this week since its been taken over by idiots it used to be great fun with the campers and beetles, its a shame they've all moved to Plymouth.

I do understand that times change and i'm a bit older now but we couldn't help but feel a bit dissapointed with the RTTS itself.

As for the show and shine absolutely ***** on many levels such as over priced at £10 although i'm not tight it just simlpy was not worth it, far to many new watercooled vehicles like T4s and new transporters and chaved up other crap i do realise that to the owners of them they are much loved and cherished but they just don't make for a show and shine like old vehicles do and i mean any make of old car not just vw. There were only a hand full of aircooled in comparison and even less stalls and shops. Very disheartening.

It was great to meet Mickey Sam from on here had a real good chat with him top bloke hope to his bus on the raod soon.

All in all we had an ace time cornwall is beautiful but we won't be going back for RTTS ( the comments in this are only my opinion and are not meant to upset anyone who had vehicles in the show and shine or anyone involved with the running of the show)
